Default Is it possible?

New to this site and had a few questions. I am 22 with a bachelors in business. I am working on my MBA right now. I have commerical single engine land/sea, multi engine land, and glider. Flight instructor airplane, glider, instruments, and multi. I have well over Part 135 mins. Right now I only teach on the side. I have a full time job in the business sector. I would like to fly full time though. Hopefully starting at CommutAir. But I have two things working against me. When I was 18 I got a ticket for disorderly conduct for being at a graduation party that was too loud at 3 am. Everyone in the house got the ticket. That was a $100 fine. At 19 I got a underage drinking ticket. That was another $150 fine. Since then I have a spotless record both criminal and driving. I have heard various opinions on the matter. Some have told me that they were minor things as a teenager and they wouldn't be a deal breaker with most companies for a pilot job. Where other have said part 135 was my only option because no part 121 would touch someone even with minor record from their teenage years. So what seems to be the normal in this situation?

I won't debate the merits of this industry, pay, QOL, etc. If you have well over 135 mins I am guessing you have 1200+ hours. Start applying, if its what you want to do, and you can financially afford the pay you may have to deal with, it certainly will not hurt to see if you can get hired somewhere. The plus is you have a job, are flying on the side, so you can sit back and see what happens.

Good luck.

No big deal, you'll be fine. I had an underage ticket 9 years ago and I've been hired by two 121 carriers. Emphasize it was in your past and not part of who you are now.

Is going to Canada a problem? I know a DUI can cause problems but what about an underage?

My record is almost identical. I've had two interviews at majors, one of which I got. I wouldn't worry about it as long as your record stays spotless. Drive the speed limit. Give them a reason to believe that stuff is totally in the past.

Probably OK. The problem with a DUI is that it is a felony in Canada, and that is the trigger for their no-entry policy.

Underage drinking should not be a felony in the US or CA.

We were all kids at one time...you sound like just about every pilot I know! You will be fine, but you might be slightly crazy!!! Finish the MBA and save whats left of your sanity! Stay away from aviation! It's not worth flying an RJ for peanuts! You will be happier and financially secure with a job that you can use your education! That's just my $.02. Either way best of luck!

Your not the first person to tell me that. It is something that I have debated over heavily. I am finishing the MBA so I have an out if the pilot lifestyle doesnt work for me. But just something that I feel I will regret if I never try.
