Default Beards and Job Fairs

I have a short well trimmed beard.
Would it blow my chances at a job fair and interview?

Whar are air carriers policies about beards in the USA?

No beards for airline pilots in the US (OK for FA's). Jetblue used to allow goats, but I think they may have eliminated that.

At a job fair I would assume it would be better to go "interview-ready", which would be however you want to present yourself. Beards are not part of airline pilot culture (in the US) so I would be hesitatant.

Exception would be if you had a good reason for wearing a beard. If it was a medical issue, they should accommodate that but there are no guarantees. The only other justification I can think of would be that you're a SOF operator in an on-call mission status...in that case it would be a good conversation piece.

I'm going to the ATL job fair tomorrow. While I agree with the concept of "go interview ready", the job fair website specifically states in bold "dress business casual. Save your suits for the interview."

So I'm going business casual.

But definitely a clean shaved face. No beards.

The beards are only ok for the male F/A's-not the female ones.

Plenty of pirates have beards...no problem at all.

Showing up with a beard automatically earns you a "headwork down". Shave it off...if you don`t get the job, you can grow it back.

I'd still go wearing a suit. I'm sure some will. Just because it states save the suit for the interview doesn't mean they still won't be impressed. I've worn one everytime and it worked. A first impression is a lasting one too...

Will a beard hurt your chances? Maybe, maybe not.

Why risk it? Shave the thing off.
