If it's surface-based Class E, then in addition to the 1000/3, you cannot cancel until you are greater than 500 ft below the clouds, right?

I think I read a "Never Again" column a couple years ago with this situation.

A friend of mine got that "the captain in the dress and the captain is a man" gotcha on her first interview. Her response was "I'm not wearing the same dress, am I?" and she was SERIOUS. She was offered the job.

How about this one (for somebody applying at a charter or fractional operator).

You're the captain of a flight and enroute to your destination when you notice the passenger (aircraft owner) in back smoking weed/doing drugs. What action do you take (if any)?

I honestly haven't the slightest clue, but I would tell the F/O that he has control, go back with my flight attendant(s), and restrain the man (e.g., like what happened with hijackings). The man is a criminal and a druggie, and should be treated as such. After the man is immobile/incapacitated, I would request priority clearance & get my plane on the ground ASAP, and request that the police have a few cruisers standing by at the gate when we arrive.

You turned in a CA to the CP for showing up for a flight drunk and no action was taken...Next month you have to fly with the same CA again and he is not real happy with you....how would you handle this situation?

If he knows it was you, ask him if he has a problem with what you did. If he does, ask him why. After listening to his BS tell him you expect him to conduct himself with the utmost professionalism or you will see to it that he never flys again.

There is no excuse for flying drunk. If you end up with a drunk co-pilot/captain, encourage them to call in sick and seek help from ALPA for their problem. Under no circumstances do you fly with the guy. If they refuse to call in sick, you call in sick. Just make sure the other guys knows what you are going to say to defend yourself when the call from the CP office comes.

Our profession does not need any more drunk pilots f'ing it up for the rest of us.

Go on O2 until the smoke clears and hope he shares with you when you get to your destination.
