What to do?
I am currently at 1650 TT 250ME 700 SETPIC and 150METPIC. The place I am working now I will have 2000TT by the end of the year and about another 200 each SE and ME Turbine.
So the question is should I think about jumping ship now and looking to the regionals so I can get in before any big hiring swings? Or wait till the end of the year when I have 2000+ hours and 1000+ PIC turbine and hope to get on at a little better airline? Or should I even worry about building any more time?

1000 ASEL TPIC won't help much unless you're a fighter pilot, but it's a nice round number at least and does allow you to apply at certain majors.
I doubt a civilian is going to get hired at most majors without 1000 ME.
You already have plenty of time for any regional, so I'd be inclined to just get my seniority number now. Airlines may slow or stop hiring late in the year because Jan-Feb are pretty slow months for travel.

I'd say it really depends on what you want to do later in life. If your goal is to go to a major air carrier, it would be very difficult to get in without being former military or regional from what I've experienced and been told. With airlines, the earlier you get in, the better your life is. If you are on the back end of a hiring swing, "hello reserve" for a long time. Not mention always getting the last choice of anything in bids. The longer you wait, the lower your seniority will ultimately be when you retire, which means lower pay and quality of life. But if you're not sure if you really want to airlines, regionals might not be a good idea. First year can be really tough.
