United application question
Under the "Affiliates" tab it gives the option of "Unemployed by virtue of a lay-off/shutdown from ALPA-represented carrier"
Well I was furloughed from an ALPA carrier (4 years ago)- but I am not unemployed (working as a corporate pilot). Do I just check this box, or check the "Other-specify below", or do I even qualify as an "Affiliate"? |
I don't think you're unemployed, so I wouldn't check that box.

Yeah, my first thought was to check the box labeled "Other- specify below" and then in the explanation box write "Furloughed from an ALPA carrier - currently employed as corporate pilot" - but I wound up checking nothing instead.
I didn't know if United recognizes all furloughed ALPA pilots as "affiliates" or just those that are currently unemployed. |
Some of these carriers don't fully think out application questions, then you're left with questions like this one. IF you choose to take it literally, you may **** someone off.
For example, when they want PRIA from "every certified air carrier and flight school" you've worked at, they really want PRIA from your corporate jobs. |
