ERAU Career Expo?
Hello,
Anyone have any insight about the Embry Riddle Career Expo that is being held this October in Daytona Beach? I am retiring from the military next spring and would like to attend but I am not sure if I am the target audience for the recruiters. Are they just looking for interns and low time pilots? I am looking to go to a Legacy carrier, not a regional (maybe a regional when no one hires me)
Any insight would be helpful. I am looking at attending the OBAP convention in August or the Daytona Beach expo (I cant do both).
Thanks in advance.

I went to the Riddle fair Oct 13 in Daytona and although the big 3 were there, they did not take any resumes for pilots, it was more a q&a, or they simply looked at your resume and gave you feedback. Spirit, JetBlue were also there and they were taking resumes. Not sure with the higher hiring if anything has changed.
I went to the WAI this month and by far better results, I've been told that OBAP Is also a great place to go, so if I were you I would make sure to attend OBAP and then maybe Riddle to just let them see you again, but I wouldn't put too much weight on Riddle.

It's free so there is that aspect. DL will not take your resume there, just there to answer questions. AA hasn't sent any pilot hiring people in a long time if ever. There is usually a guy who does all AAG hiring but he's focusing on the regional stuff while there. UA gives you a real look which is why their line is ridiculous for a college fair. They look at your resume and talk to you just like they would at the typical job fairs. Word is for UA's point system, it won't count but it will go in the system as you being there. So no points but a person reviewing your app can see you've been to talking them. If you really impress the recruiter, he or she may decide to look at your app later.
I don't know how far you are from Daytona, but if it's not too far out of your way then maybe it's worth it. If you're looking to go somewhere other than the legacies than its different. JetBlue won't take resumes for most, but they make exceptions. Spirit is there to recruit ground instructors so it's usually not the same experience you're getting at WAI. Allegiant can and will call from this.
You will get a much better result going to OBAP or WAI but it'll cost you.

Thanks for the words. It really isnt about how you guys are. I would understand completely if I wasnt welcome. No difference than if a bunch of USAF pilots showed up to my Army Career Fair.
Anybody know if the Military Transition Career Fair on the 14th of August will have actually airline recruiters there? I am trying to plan my trip now (hotels, ect). I plan on calling to find out if no one knows.

Depends on which airline you're interested in. I went in 2013 and it landed me a job flying an Airbus. Delta will review your resume, but not take it. American flat out told me "we're not looking for pilots". Spirit, JetBlue, and United all took my resume and asked questions just as they do at other job fairs. They are the same recruiters you'll speak to at any other job fair. The lines were also much shorter than other job fairs and allowed me to speak to prospective employers (including my current airline) for a longer amount of time, no rush, very relaxed.
My opinion is that it is that it's a great opportunity to make an impression with recruiters, and a chance to land a job with the ones who are taking resumes. Even if it doesn't land you a job or your #1 isn't taking resumes, it's a chance to make yourself known to the recruiters so that when they do take your resume, they know you 2x better than the ones they are meeting for the first time.
Good luck!

Just saw an email from University Communications (via text from a friend) that the ERAU Daytona Career/Industry Expo is cancelled on Thursday, 6 October, due to Hurricane Matthew forecast. Anyone else have confirmation?
