OBAP Registration

Can anyone offer some insight to registering for this fair? I'm trying to register for the Job Fair only, but the only option I see is the Full Registration for $475. That's an exorbitant price. How do you sign up for just the fair at a reduced rate? Thanks for your help.

N927EV 05-23-2016 08:19 AM

Register for the career fair. It's $150. I think all the appointments to sit down face to face with the recruiters are sold out, however.

goinaround 05-23-2016 08:24 AM

You have to check on the OBAP full membership...think it's $49 or something like that...then you can register for the career fair. However, it won't tell you which companies...if any....are available to make a reservation with until you've registered. And it sounds like they're all full. I hope these career fair shams go away soon.

N1234 05-23-2016 08:28 AM

How come they are already sold out? Didn't it just open to registration?

Are you freaking kidding me!? This is in August right? Got damnit. I was going to do this in June - 2 months ahead of time and get signed up.

Even with WIA, 2 months ahead of time, you aren't dealing with sold out Fast passes. [XYZ].

middies10 05-23-2016 08:43 AM

Everyone who registered received a third party email saying appointments were full. Ive heard that there is a problem with the website and in fact they aren't all full and they are working to fix the website.

I hope that's right I couldn't sign up for any appointments so I sent an email and still no response. If I can't get an appointment I'll be selling my ticket if anyone is interested.

I might do a chargeback if they're sold out and won't refund 100%. These job fairs are ridiculous.

stillcantfly 05-23-2016 01:18 PM

I say we all just boycot this crap......they need us more then we need them time for them to pay us to come to them just my .02

Cruz5350 05-23-2016 02:29 PM

I just received an email saying they're redoing some of the appointments so let's see how this works.

I agree 100%.

Its [pastrami sandwich] too that they charge $50 fee to cancel, and you can only cancel or transfer until the last week of June. They know how airline schedules work. None of us will know by the end of June if we'll have the fair off yet or not. Such a freaking scam.

Theres also no reason, unless you're scheduled for a 1 on 1, that you wouldn't be able to just transfer your pass up to the day of. Last year they said it gets too confusing and complicated to deal with issuing new name tags. Gimmie a freaking break.

Cruz5350 05-23-2016 04:43 PM

I don't know if it's sold out or not but I'll keep everyone posted on what happens with me.

I also agree! $150 to have the privilege of talking to a recruiter! What a crock of [eggs benedict]! I hate how they use these job fairs to show "how dedicated you are", as if us working our [balut] off to be more competitive and further our careers is some how not showing dedication. It's a scam and it [vegan dumplings] me off.

JohnDoe 05-23-2016 10:07 PM

The career fair isn't sold out, there's just no more appointment slots available. Just means you have to stand in the long lines and wait your turn.

weekendflyer 05-23-2016 11:02 PM

I paid the 50 dollar membership fee then the 150 for the convention, I got a confirmation email, then two minutes later got an email saying I cancelled my attendance. I basically paid 200 dollars for no reason, anyone else having this issue?? No one over there will respond to me, I'm just going go to dispute the charges if no one gets back to me, I'm sick of this crap.

That is not true. There is in fact an error with their website that they are working to rectify. Just have to wait for it to reopen. Appointments are still available.

sandrich 05-24-2016 01:01 AM

So is this thing sold out or not? I just renewed my membership for $49, logged in, but still only get the Full Membership, A La Carte, and Booth Attendee options. Nothing for Career Fair only...

Maingear 05-25-2016 09:55 AM

Anyone had any luck scheduling a time? I paid my $200, but still can't even get to the scheduling system. When they get it back up and running, will registration be based on who registered first or who schedules first? Last year if you didn't have a UA time, they literally would not see you. I assume it will be the same this year and might even carry over to DL. So basically if you want to go to talk to UA/DL and can't get a time there's no point in going to it.

Maingear 05-25-2016 11:52 AM

^^^ They just fixed it. I am scheduled (I think). We'll see how smoothly it goes.

I think I am too. Not the most user friendly system ever created. Is there a limit as to how many we can sign up for? I signed up for 3 on the first day...what did you do?

Maingear 05-25-2016 01:04 PM

4 on day one. UA/DL/AA/SWA. Knock it all out by early afternoon and head home.

Did your column have any red squares in the times you picked? Or was it all white?

This system is awful and their instructions aren't complete.

I did some testing and I was able to successfully book an appointment with a recruiter that had no slots available in that time column.

So I don't know if any of my other ones are legit or not.

Maingear 05-25-2016 03:07 PM

I only booked in white squares.

4V14T0R 05-25-2016 03:15 PM

Yeah the system is horrible, but it appears to have scheduled for me as well.

I do like the mentality of scheduling times though. Maximize the efficiency of our time.

Can you help me please? I see 'Recruiter 1' for United, for example.

There are columns every ten minutes, and there seem to be 7 or so rows. The first two rows all filled red, then more white shows up as the day goes on or the row numbers get larger.

Does only the first row count for that recruiter? Or does each row allow an appointment slot?

So if all of row 1 is booked up, does that mean I have to go to 'Recruiter 2' to find an open time slot with a white block in the first row??

Yeah so what I did was click on a recruiter, look for a block of time that I wanted, then change the time in the drop down menu to one of the open (white) blocks that I wanted then click next. If the recruiter did not have a time I wanted in white, then I would remove the recruiter by clicking the "X" on the left column and choose another one and try to find one with a suitable time.

The white block of row one (recruiters row one, not your name)?

Or the white block below a dashed white-red block that someone else has?

I'm not sure what is right since I did see two rows of blocks for some of the recruiters but I based it off the top row of the recruiters. Your schedule should be all white except for appointments you already made.

The system is pretty half-assed. Think about what's it's designed for. It's designed for setting up appointments with individuals. It was not designed for what it's used now. You have your availability which is the top line and the availability and then you have the recruiter's availability which is the line below. I don't know what the third line of availability is when you have a recruiter selected.

lckck84 05-26-2016 08:48 AM

anyone else having issues registering? It asks to schedule an appointment..i click yes and then the next page leads me to invite guest...where do we schedule the appointment?

Iron Maiden 05-26-2016 09:03 AM

What airlines will be at OBAP in August? I don't want to register if the one I'm targeting isn't going to be there. The main page doesn't list them, that I can see.

el duque 05-26-2016 01:57 PM

So are all the appointments taken now? or did I do something wrong? When I go to schedule an appointment, it takes me to the page where I see my name and a bunch of white (available) blocks, but there isn't a line below my name for recruiters.

Maingear 05-26-2016 02:45 PM

Search for recruiters. For name you put the airline name and choose a recruiter.

el duque 05-26-2016 05:02 PM

Thanks, that worked. Definitely not user-friendly though.

FlyingPirate 05-27-2016 05:22 PM

Anyone have luck registering for airlines lately? I just signed up but don't see anywhere to register. If so I'm not going to spend hours waiting in line again like NGPA.

Maingear 05-28-2016 06:51 PM

Someone PM'd me asking more details so I figured I'd post it here.

1) Click link in registration email to change registration.

2) Use your confirmation code to log in.

3) Press cancel.

4) There should be a button to make appointments. Goes where I drew the red box. I don't see it now. It looks like the system is down again.
http://i.imgur.com/Q9CpNAr.jpg

5) Pick a day to schedule the appointment.

6) The top line is your schedule. It should be white if you have not scheduled anything. Click the button in the column to the left of the schedule to search for companies. You put the name of the company in the "NAME" box, NOT the "COMPANY" box. Not intuitive I know, but it's how it works. There will be five or so choices under that name. These are the recruiters. You can only search one recruiter's schedule at a time. try to find a mutual time that works when the recruiter has a WHITE box. The recruiter's schedules are the line below yours. I don't know why some have two lines, sorry. Red is busy, pink is an appointment that's been made by someone else but not confirmed by the company so only make appointments in the white boxes. To choose the time, do the drop down menu below the schedule. Click next and make sure it is the correct time.

If you can't find a time that works with one recruiter, go back and search for the company again and choose another recruiter.

Within a couple days all your appointments should be confirmed. I'd double check to make sure you were not accidentally double booked with someone else and yours was canceled. I'm not sure, but I don't think there is anything preventing a double booking.

Good luck.

Again- where is the option for career fair only. All I'm getting is full registration, a la Carte, and exhibit attendee...

I signed up, and did not see anywhere to access individual appointments, so I e-mailed OBAP. I received a very short reply today from Lynda Gray, Director, Meetings and Events: "All advance appointments have been taken."

Since I am new to this, I would appreciate hearing about anyone's experiences at this event, and how it might work to still see a recruiter or two (just wait in line, I assume?).

Thanks in advance for your help!

I really wish they would have been up front about the fact they were out of appointments.

I wasn't too happy to spend $199 to register only to find out afterwards they were sold out. I can cancel my registration and lose a whole $99, or go and wait in line on the last hour of the day and *hope* I get to talk to a recruiter. I would also like to know the odds that I will be able to speak to UAL and DAL, or would I be better cutting my losses and getting back $100 out of the $199 I paid a few days ago....

Heisenberg 05-31-2016 03:58 PM

The recruiter appointment I booked is listed under the "Accepted Networking Appointments" dropdown in "My agenda." But when I click "View Details" for the appointment, there is a "(Pending)" next to the company I signed up to see. Is that what a confirmed appointment looks like?
