Default Unusual path to regionals...

I managed to snag a pipeline gig to build time fast (900+ hrs this past year). Getting my ME done this week and building some ME time after that...

Problem is we don't get much IFR time. Just a little bit on deadheads now and then. But I've managed to maintain currency, and am also extremely comfortable with ATC comms at busy airports with the work we do.

In terms of the training, I have a B.S. in Physics, and am a pretty quick learner. I think systems will be the most interesting part.

Here's the question: With such a background, how hard will it be to successfully interview and then transition to regional flying?

The hiring is pretty easy, its the transition to glass if you haven't done it.
The normal and emergency procedures can be a handful.

Read up on 'unstructured flying' pots having greater than typical difficulties in training.

Einstein didn't have a drivers license. There isn't a 1:1 relationship between advanced degrees and flying.

The systems aren't that tough. Tying it all together, procedures, SOP's, and all the other non flying requirements, and having to do it all whole actually flying, is where the difficulty factor increases.
