Hey Bill, I know you want that general surgeon position at General Hospital, ya got some volunteer time at the church to show the interviewer?

How many RJ Captains who graduated from UND or Riddle are out there? volunteer work is one of the many way to make yourself stand out from the rest.

I would rather be stuck making 100K+, retirement, 401K, days off, QOL+ on a Bus than junior captain making 70k max on RSV.

I may be wrong but isn't Delta hiring guys with 0PIC time...sorry Gals

I agree. I don't think companies pick some random things to differentiate their applicants. They choose things that would show that a candidate would fit within their corporate culture. A lot of large airlines are aware that branding and customer service attract repeat customers. A person who volunteers often shows an attitude of going above and beyond what is required, someone who is willing to sacrifice their free time for the betterment of an organization, and someone who acts with humility.

So, you have a job offer from an LCC and you are wondering if you should leave your RJ CA position? Just trying to make sure I understand your question.

I would say the situation has changed a bit. The wage gap between Legacy and LCC has narrowed. The international carrot has withered not just due to covid but also through code share agreement. TPIC has proven to be less important than we thought if you do end up wanting to go legacy.

My advice: go with the LCC.

The LCC give ls you the best of both worlds and the power to choose.
You really don’t want to be a regional lifer everyone agrees.
But at an LCC you can make more than a regional captain, plus a DC and better benefits.
Upgrade in usually less than 5 years and make $250k a year+ without trying too hard.
In the meantime you can wait for that Legacy to call.
If they don’t you’re still in a decent place and millions ahead if you stayed at a regional waiting.
Additionally odds are the LCCs further close the gap
between them and the Legacy contracts.

Nearing upgrade and debating the apply everywhere approach vs apply where you would like to be. Not sure if leaving before I get 121 tpic might hurt chances at the big 3 with all the hiring that is supposed to start.

I turned down/deferred some LCC jobs trying to check one last box for a legacy and ended up on the street lol. Ymmv. I think back to those FOs who bounced asap to an LCC a couple years earlier and figure they are about to be captains. So.. yeah go LCC for music stopping reasons. But if you're a betting man, roll dice and get the upgrade. It's a total crapshoot in the end, that is the hard truth of it.

Did you end up at another regional, LCC, or even a legacy right now?
