just so that everyone knows all the ca's and fo's on the 727 will get whatever airplane they want because the company is getting rid of their current aircraft. if all the 50 ca's and 43 fo's wanted to go to the a300 they would all go there and displace the current most junior pilots on those planes and then those pilots would displace pilots on other aircraft. this has the potential for ALOT of training in the next year.

This is going to get really ugly pretty soon.
It is true that ultimatly, the discplaced pilots from the 727 are going to have full bumping rights to end up on whatever fleet and seat they can hold, but in this first round, can't they only go to the posted positions? I would think many would do better to just wait until the displacement round. |

I conquer, but then again, I don't understand everything I know about the subject. Seems like the better thing would be to just skip the realignment but for some reason, in the past the union has said it was better for us to do it this way.

If there were 200 unfilled FO positions last time around, why don't they show up on the vacancy/realignment bid? It seems funny that the company is saying no one will be forced to ANC.
Next question.... Will the senior 727 guys who move during displacement, actually start bumping the junior people or will they just add to the list of that particular fleet? If they start bumping junior people, the training involved with that would be very horrific. |
All I can say is that there is PLENTY of room on the 75 domestic side. I got 3 JA calls in one day last week.

I'm sure since they're so short FO's on the 75, A300 and MD that there won't be many guys getting bumped off those lists by displacements. If anything junior 74 and DC-8 guys might get bumped. Or, to keep the training costs down they might not have anyone get bumped off any list. Who knows?

Anyway, I hope the 72 guys realize the 74 is going away also. One is leaving in July. There probably will be another displacement bid this summer reducing the staffing on the 74. Unless you like training I wouldn't do it! Fly good. |
I think if I heard this right, for every new 747 on UPS grounds, a classic gets parked.
