This would depend on the period (RA, RA+, etc.) that the pilot is covering, and the number of days of availabilty he has. If there are 2 pilots for every trip, they're covered. If there are fewer than 2, you will not be able to drop an R-day. If there are more than 2, you will not be able to pick up a trip at AVA..
Close but the number of reserves required is NOT based upon 2 per trip like we have been led to believe. It is based upon a "historical" look a predictive open trips during that date footprint. In other words if you are a DC10 guy all your historical data is based upon a much larger fleet and there-by a much higher number of open trips. I have been personally denied a trip drop with a 4 to 1 ratio and when I dug and dug and dug....that is the offical answer from the programming guys. Oh by the way, there is not any method of providing the predictive data to the crew force. Until this process goes real time the guy at the computer in scheduling can still do whatever he wants.
