Any one knows anything about John Maloney from Florida West?

woog315 04-12-2017 06:33 PM

Don't need to know who he is, "Florida West" tells you all you need to know.

Unless you know nothing of "Florida West", and then you're just as much in the dark as before.

Why? Did ATSG hire him?

Um.. yeah. He's your new VP of Flight Ops or some such thing.
Starts around April 17'th.

C7fr8dog 04-13-2017 04:36 AM

"This is the BBC....... today's news.........

The dog is buggering the cat.
The DOG is BUGGERING the CAT.

In other news.... The Queen was caught roasting chestnuts in the stables last night again. The King was none to pleased."

Quick perusal of search engines shows that he's one of 6 principals of Florida West, another hit shows him as Human Resources Mgr.

Don Garments 04-13-2017 06:01 AM

I knew Maloney from about 17 years ago at Florida West and he was a good guy then.

Red Baron 04-13-2017 06:14 AM

Hmm....another unemployed management type from the Atlas acquisition of Southern (Southern owned Florida West) hired at ABX......let the speculation run wild! Looks like the fall-out from November continues in management......BB demoted.

Your ignorance can be forgiven, what with there being no actual announcement of the change up to now. I had heard rumblings that such a change might be coming, but nothing so specific.

It's interesting that ABX chose not to inform the pilots. Even ATI knew at 1pm yesterday. I guess that the new mantra from management is: "keep em in the dark and we will slide it past them"

Did BB get "retired"?

Well, that's not very neighborly. And yes, your ignorance. You were unaware of the change, just as I was unaware. That is to say you were ignorant of the change, just as I was.

ignorance |ˈiɡnərəns|
noun
lack of knowledge or information: he acted in ignorance of basic procedures.

ignorant |ˈiɡnərənt|
adjective
• [predicative] lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about something in particular: they were ignorant of astronomy.

Did you really think I'd just waltz in and insult you?

Looking for some help/insight.....

I've been trying to apply to ABX and ATI (websites appear to be similar or the same) and I've had no luck finding the first officer application selection for either company. Is the application window only open at certain times or is it continuously open and I'm missing something?

Thanks!
AP

sherpster 04-25-2017 03:15 PM

Go to ATI. Last class here was in January and as far as I know there are no classes planned. ATI has been hiring like gangbusters. That should tell you all you need to know.

ABX is almost certainly not hiring at this point, and the application window has not been open for some time. ATI has been hiring, but I don't know where they stand now.

ABX and ATI are separate and distinct entities under ATSG. Each has its own web site and application process.

point432 04-25-2017 03:23 PM

Abex or Bust. While the pay here is better, no one has heard a word. Well...they interviewed in Dec/Jan but those people probably came and went. Most likely the other answers to this will be, "have you applied to Kalitta Air?" [emoji58]

Could someone post or PM me the link to ATI's FO position?

Whenever I go to the site, I find the "Click here to apply" tab but then it takes me to a separate page asking if I'm currently an employee or not. After I click no, I get a list of various positions to apply for, but no FO option.

And yes, I've applied to Kalitta and crickets as with every other company out there. Applications and resumes everywhere and nothing.

4100 tt
1700+ fixed wing (mostly King Airs)
2400 rotary wing
2100+ total PIC
1000+ fixed wing PIC
Bachelors degree, retired CW3

Caveat: I completely admit that I am computer illiterate. I may just be missing something.

motorclutch 04-25-2017 03:52 PM

We will soon see what the NMB says about that!

I just checked the "careers" link and it does appear that the window closed again. It does open/close periodically.

I'll put in an email to HR and ask them, if it is indeed closed for a bit, if there is a date when it will open.

hope this helps,

FAJ

Nice to see you, Motor! After nine days of silence, I was starting to think that there was a reason that everyone at ABX had stopped posting on APC. ;)

Just saving it up for May 1.

1224 is celebrating May Day........

CandlerKid 04-27-2017 01:21 PM

Atlas pilots would like to celebrate with you. If you have a party we will be sure to show up with balloons (and picket signs).

Ejected 04-27-2017 04:32 PM

Cut it out.... nothing is happening in May. Company lawyers have been inquiring about a possible strike in May due to the scope issue with Amazon flying using the DHL CVG ramp with DHL handling (and possibly carrying DHL freight). The beauty about these "colorful" guys is that they say their sources are "outstations" feeding from pilots (maybe a couple guys joking or wishful thinking) and internet pilot forums (ohhh Lord).
You know they're reading these forums. You'd think they know better, but I guess the global warming government conspiracy forums are starting to get boring.

There's still the scope issue out there, and there's a lot to be said about it. The Union will do it's part negotiating it, or otherwise taking it to arbitration. But a strike is off the table. The November strike was based on solid direct blatant violations. There's no point on stirring up the pot in this case.

And since we're in the subject, we'll have to wait and see about our new VP of ops before getting all worked up as he should do the same regarding Teamsters. If he's smart enough, he'll realize that the Union is very reasonable and wants he company to succed as much as management does, but it's a two way street.
