True, they should just expand Haneda. Closer to the city and plenty of bay to expand into. That's what Hong Kong is doing, doubling the size of the airport north of HKG in the waters.

Heck... if you could not read the serial numbers on the lights passing over the departure end of the runway, you weren't carrying enough freight on the good old 727.

First thing you come to is a The Toho shrine and its in the approach lights at about 500' front the end of the runway set off slightly to the north .The farm is at about 1000/1200 ft.

Firstly, the quote here is misleading (due to translation issues perhaps)? The aircraft lifted off 85m from the runway end, still on the paved surface (not beyond it, in the grass as the original quote seems to indicate). Yes that is still ~200m beyond where it should've lifted off, but the tires were not dragged through the grass. If we can wait a few weeks I'm sure information about the cause will be made available.
