Trying to swap a trip with another pilot. His trip begins Sunday, mine Monday. Getting denied "Cannot Swap between Bid months".

Anyone?

Have you tried since open time released? If so talk directly to a scheduler they should be able to make it happen..

Yup, This was after open time was released. I've been on hold for an 1hr and 7 min. waiting for the supervisor. The scheduler has been on twice telling me that he can't find a reference, but he knows "Thats just the way it is"

Can both of you drop and then be ready to pick up each other's trip?

I know I've tried trading out of carry over trips,...always to be denied. I wonder if that's the reason? The fact that the trip, in your case, would be flown leaves me stumped.

I'm assuming the CH values are close -- have you considered PDO bumping each other? I'm not talking about "Mutual PDO Bump," as the same bid month restrictions would most likely apply. I'm talking about you PDO bump his trip, and he PDO bumps yours. Unless they overlap, that might be an option.

If they overlap, coordinate a Drop, Bump, and Pickup. Whoever has the trip in the new month drops his trip, bumps the other trip, and as soon as the trip is dropped (and the other bumped), the other guy picks it up out of open time. The only risk is somebody else beating you to the punch. Use the telephone to orchestrate the deal.

Go to trip pick-up request and pick up his trip and have him do the same to you. I just got finished picking up another guys carryover trip that way and it worked fine. When we tried to do a swap earlier in the week it was denied due to not being in the current bid month. Now that all the open time is released, it should work.

That won't work since the trips overlap.

UPDATE,

Talked with the supervisor last night. She could not find a reference, but said again "It's always been that way". My partner in crime started the ball rolling with ALPA contract enforcement this morning. Nobody at the company could come up with a straight answer. Apparently it is just the way the software had been programed back to the days of the FCH. According to contract enforcement, they eventualy decided there was no good reason. They manualy completed the trade, and are researching the programing.

If anyone else has a similar problem arise please call contract enforcement.
