It all sounded good until you got to this part. Where's the barbecue? Pork shoulder is where it's at. THAT's BBQ!

Dreamland Ribs. The original is in Tuscaloosa. When the old man (pictured) died, turned out he owed a bunch of taxes, so his heirs sold some franchises to pay the IRS. They all good.

I know this is thread drift, but the thread has drifted this far so what's a little more, eh?

When in San Antonio, try Rudy's http://rudys.com/. I plan to be at the Leon Springs location on April 22, 2007 for those who'd like to pig out with me. Let's see if anybody can out-eat my brother-in-law.

And BBQ ain't one of them.
Well, there is always someplace nicer. It seems people spend a lot of time trying to convince themselves that where they live is the best place. Comes across as insecurity. Doesn't matter to me that you don't like Memphis, has no impact on my life at all!

As for SE Asia, well, I agree that the bbq food isn't the only thing they have that's better than this country...

Default bbq

Germantown Commissary is the best bbq sandwich in Memphis, no questions asked.

Leonard's has the best dry ribs, as Rendezvous is like Corky's in that they're a tourist trap.

Yes, Memphis is a bit dumpy, but that is what gives it character. If you like good food, vibrant culture, friendly people, and no opportunity, then its a great place to live.

I miss it, proud to call it my hometown, but would never live there again. I guess you could say its a "love/hate relationship", which is a typical response among Southerners living outside the region.

Oh yeh, Memphis ATC is quite friendly too.
