Subic Layover

Has anyone done any scuba diving over in Subic? Looking for some info on setting up a dive on a 38hr layover. Thanks

I believe there are at least 2 dive shops on the bay, and there are several wrecks that make interesting dives. It shouldn't be long before an expert will pipe up here with the details.

There are 3 places that I know of. I can personally recommend 2 of them.

First place is VASCO's on Magellan's point (on base) Brian is the head Divemaster) I have dove there 3 times. It costs about $27.usd per dive.
The food and drink isn't too bad.

The 2nd place is the Blue Rock resort (off base) out the back gate towards Subic City in the Barrio. Tomo is the Head guy. Prices are about the same.
Blue rock has a good restaurant/bar for after wards. And the eyeball liberty isn't too bad. Blue Rock has a website. You might try googling "Blue Rock Subic bay"

The closet place (walking dist from the hotel) is the Scuba Shack (right down the street from the Legenda Hotel. I have never dove with these guys. Drank many a pitcher of San Migel and ate a few burgers there.

The Bay is loaded with wrecked ships and a few Aircraft. All my diving there has been local in the bay. They do have trips that go farther out but I can't comment on those.

In the winter months, (non Rainy season) the visibility is pretty good .
During rainy season the water can get a little murkey.
The hotel Desk can give you the phone numbers and call a taxi for you...................400 pesos to Magellans or Blue rock (8 bucks)

I'd highly recommend the Blue Rock, not so much for the dive facilities or the food at the bar, but because it's much closer to Muffdivers.:D

I have done some diving at the Blue Rock. Nothing to write home about as far as stuff to see and visibilty but fun time. Like the other guy said great place to hang out too. Nice clean place, great food, LBFM'S and cheap booze.

Olongapo is a Kinder gentler place now. Nothing like it was when the
fleet pulled in back in the day........You can still get into trouble though and the San Migel tastes the same. And the Sh*t River smells the same!

What else besides Scuba and Muff diving? I heard somthing about feeding chickens to tigers?

Also where do you get the legitimate massages, manicure, pedicure etc?
