Yeah, that old pilot shortage is just around the corner.

Look around about August - if somebody ain't on the property, they probably won't be here for the peak season. Therefore the new hire slots on the bid in June will be the last chance to man up. Peak was huge last year and nothing says it will be any smaller this year....

Actually, Ryanair announced yesterday, plans to enter the trans-Atlantic market ... good call Redeye.

You might be in the pool quite a while since we have about 150-180 per year hitting 60 and now they will all want to wait it out in the back in hopes of the rule change happening in the next couple of years.

I predict that in about 3 years, when the dust has settled and the FAA has ruled that the old guys can't come back to the left seat they may finally face reality that eventually the merry go round stops. We won't be able to hire fast enough to replace them all once they figure all this out. It will make the postal contract hiring look like a trickle.

Until then, however, be prepared to swim for quite a while.

You can thank the old guys, ALPA and Capt Prater after you get off probation in about 4 years.

Good luck.

So has FDX historically minimized hiring/interviewing during the "peak season"?
