Does anyone know if FDX is still interviewing? If so, how many are they looking at each month? If not, do they plan to pick back up after 1 June?
Thanks in advance,

I've been hearing no interviews any earlier than Jun. I was told this is being driven by the new fiscal year (Jun 1) and waiting until the upcoming bid goes through which hopefully will start in May. A couple threads from a few weeks ago talk a little more in detail about it from guys who actually work there....

Didnt even know we still had guys in a pool. How many of you are there?
I know we havent had a new-hire class in about a month or so and I dont even think there was 10 guys in that class. I suspect things will really get moving when the 757 comes online.

I'm estimating from several sources that there are some 30 to 40 of us in the pool. Some may be left over from last year and some, such as myself, interviewed earlier this year. I've been closely monitoring the posts with words on the next MOAB, the 75 basing, DC-10 SO displacements, age 65 forecasts, and consequent manning requirements.
I was wondering if pilot recruitment was continuing to increase the size of the pool.
Waiting, watching, and learning more of the purple world.
By the way, thanks to all of you that share your bit of the puzzle. Synergism is a wonderful thing.

"New pilot hiring is unknown at this time but is expected to be minimal."
This quote is from our VP of Flight Ops in conjunction with a small Airbus bid that came out today. As a previous poster said, we'll know more in June.

Hiring will likely be supressed until the over 60 crowd is convinced that they won't be able to return to the front seat if the age changes. They're flooding the backseats in hopes of getting back up to the front. Could be a while, or maybe not.

As the 777 comes onboard it will be need to be staffed.
No airline hires massiviely at a continuous pace. FedEx has done its share.
Hang in there, keep you stuff updated..........
In the mean time, I am a Half full guy and my guess is that Hiring in the Legacies will begin soon..........The recall notices have been issued at most places with furloughed Pilots. That is a positive sign. When the recalls dry up hiring will start. With the EU open skies agreement done, this is going to create more flights to from Europe. It is going to put pressure on the Big International players because companies like Virgin, Ryan, Easyjet, Martin Air (pick you poison) will try to enter the Trans oceanic market.
Look for the Big Boys to expand their International presence. The positive side of this is that more and more Pilots will be required. The not so positive is it will have a potential negative effect on pay raises......
Hang tough, the FedEx folks will flood this board with info when more facts come out this summer.

Good post Redeye and I echo it; just hang tough guys/gals (and I know that's easier said than done).
When the MOAB is released later in the summer/early fall then we'll have a good look at manning, IMO. In my brief time here, the hiring faucet has been either dripping or blasting -- it's dripping now, standby for max psi!
