Default Info request/ Old Freight dogs

I spend a lot of time on the regional thread pontificating my experience to young pilots, now I need to tap the wisdom of Sr. Frt Dogs and ask a question.

I'm an ASA Captain, been here about 10 years and have had it with the regionals, FA's, etc. I would love to do Cargo and of course the best jobs ($$) is Fed Ex and UPS. The truth is I have a violation, and despite 10,000 hours of flight time, former Army pilot, two and type ratings, I fear I'm not competitive at those two right now so I'm looking into more "mom and pop" carriers like Gemini, Atlas, Cargo 360, etc.

So here's my question... most cargo companies offer a lower guarantee, 60 to 65 hours. So what are you line holders actually getting each month. Also, any tips on how you make extra with pick up time, duty rigs etc.

Anyone from any of these carriers feel free to respond with money info and hiring info.

Thanks,

Stick

Stick wiggler,

At my current carrier(WOA), it goes about 50/50 as far as lines that are built beyond 65 hours(guarantee). We don't have a duty rig, but we do have a 1 for 5 trip rig. 24 TAFB=4.8 hours pay. So when you are gone longer than 13.5 days your going over guarantee. We also have a few lines that go senior with 11 days gone and 90-95 hours pay(mostly the old guys or fo's who coundn't upgrade). Long(65) and short call(76) out reserve. 2.40/hr perdiem. Catering on every leg. Home basing, no need to jumpseat to work, they get you there. Open trips are bid on the scheduling website. You can voulunter to work your days off as long as you get a 6-day block at home. It's not the best contract, but its pretty good for an ACMI carrier. For your info on pay I'm on 4th year FO pay currently and didn't sell any of my days off avg. 77.2 hours pay per month in 06 working 14-15 on then the same at home. With the profit sharing check and not including perdiem just short of 90K. Profit sharing can be as much as 10% of your earnings in the plan year.

ps: your pay and p/d starts as soon as you leave your house and ends when you return. PM if you'd like more info
