Info on National Airlines
Does anyone know anything about National Airlines? I think they have a few 747’s and 757’s but I haven’t been able to find too much information about them. I know a guy there and he seems to like it but I’d like to get a different perspective before putting an app in.
I’m currently a FO at a regional, a couple months from being eligible to upgrade and honestly I’m pretty happy here.. Just trying to plan my next move in regards to upgrading or going somewhere else to get some heavy international time. |
They'll probably hire you. But without any TPIC...you'll be stuck. And that's not a place where you want to be stuck.... Stay and take your upgrade is my advice.
|
I was in the first generation there......agreed, wouldn’t go unless you have zero prospects, then still wouldn’t recommend it........not a good place......

Delta is pulling gays and gals wet behind the ears at regionals. No need for “heavy intl” time anymore |

Ok- not a personal attack, but you’re better than National Airlines. Every airline on the planet needs a warm body. Don’t sell your self short !!

You "know a guy" who works there, and what you know about the company is that "they have a few 747's and 757's?" You're considering applying there?

Yes, John, hence the title of the post “info on National Airlines”.
If you "know a guy," and all you got is that you *think* the company has "a few 747's and 757's," then either you didn't ask, or you don't know a guy very well. Asking a question on an internet board isn't really in depth research; someone seeking to apply might have done a bit more leg work than to "know a guy" and for the sum total of his knowledge at this point to be that you *think* the company has "a few 747's and 757's." Truly underwhelming. Have you read the NTSB report regarding the Bagram crash? Maybe you should. |

Congrats! Just curious based on APC info? 56 Pilots, 2 x 74 BCFs, 2 x 75s - A330s in negotiations, any update within these numbers and someone mentioned during their interview earlier that the company briefed fleet plans which correlates to future growth/endeavors? Just curious as it shouldn’t be too confidential if briefed during an interview.

Question
Some companies, like Hawaian, amoung others, adjusted their facial hair policies after a study came out proving there was no loss in oxygen saturation provided certain cinditions were met. Did National, or any other cargo carrier follow suit?
Thanks, HD |

I’m gonna have to agree with your assessments, a buddy of mine works for them and is about to leave for corporate flying They regularly schedule 4 or more crew for up to 30 hrs duty at a time to save paying layovers, per dimes, etc. Thier training department is a joke. Do yourself a favor, hang on till at least a half descent opportunity avails itself.
Corporate flying is not all it’s cracked up to be either. Some owners are temperamental, cheap & controlling while others are OK. I’m approaching the twilight of a 40 year career fulfilling a childhood dream to fly 747’s all over the world, make some new friends & have some fun along the way. HD |

HD Do 3 laps around the planet on a 20 day rotation with minimal rest… and then come back and tell us what you think. This is why places can get by with paying bottom dollar for pilots… |

Im counting my blessing. I’m having fun in indoc & working with some good guys with varied backgrounds: A380’s, A340’’s, A320’s, 747’s, 737’s & several RJ models. Simulator training starts end of next week. HD |

Thanks. Though my record is spotless, I was in an accident. (SIC & non-flying pilot.) It was still enough to disqualify me from consideration. I can’t say I blame them. Lots of applicants to choose from.

Moreover, that kind of statement is really being made for the benefit of the group, as if we were a bunch of guys standing around talking and you were heckling or mocking the guy in conversation, so, again, it really does come across as judgy. There's no other purpose of saying it. You wouldn't send it in a p.m. to the person out of the blue. So you're saying it to degrade him or mock him or just preen for the group at his expense. Just making an objective observation. |

Most people wouldn't feel the need to state that observation back to the other person in public -- their prefrontal cortex would filter it -- unless they were being judgy.
