Default A "comforting" visual....

So....... we go through security at a quasi 3rd world international airport on our way to the jet and get the standard walk-through and pat down by security -- SOP right?

While waiting on the x-ray machine to expunge our bags, I notice a small cardboard container behind the screener filled with "stuff." I move in closer and take a look at said "stuff." The "stuff" included a LARGE knife (8 in at least), two pair of what looked like surgical scissors, and an assortment of other crap (matches, lighters, etc...).

That was one machine/screener and there were around 4 others operating when we left 'the land of not quite right.' No, I didn't go look into the other containers but I post this as a personal account to be vigilant with security. We routinely DH out of these countries and most guys know that sometimes their security procedures look purely perfunctory.

At least they caught these particular items -- I wonder what they missed??? Keep your noggin' on a swivel out there guys/gals!

Ah, the land of the NQW (not quite right), I sure miss that place. But hopefully you're not actually thinking it's just at some of these other countries that this type of thing happens. Our very own TSA guys must certainly miss their share of potential weapons, as can be seen whenever they are tested for their procedures. Your warning is certainly right on the money. Personally, I plan on driving to all my front end deadhead cities.

At least the TSA confiscated my toothpaste because it was .2 oz over the limit! They couldnt figure out the metric conversion so took it anyway! Got to love the common sense used by the TSA! Oh, and if I wore my uniform shirt all of a sudden it makes the toothpaste ok!

I've flown with guys that wore way more than .2oz of stuff on their uniform shirts and ties! Couldn't you just squeeze .2oz into your mouth and board with fresh breath?

Is there any special training required for the "cavity search" position?

Does it have a hazardous duty override?

Do I need my own flashlight, or is it supplied?
