Our new Lanyards
#11
Management and non-members are dancing in the streets right now reading these posts! They are singing "Our day has finally come, rejoice!" Why don't we just get some tar and feathers and head over to MEC headquarters!

I'd suggest a poll but...well...you know.

I like the black strap lanyard myself. I'd feel a little silly walking around an airport on a deadhead with some disgruntled message hanging around my neck. I flew on America West recently and the Captain was standing at the door as passengers deplaned with a "We're Screwed" pin stuck to his lapel. It was funny, but made him look a little unprofessional.
I think I'd be satisfied wearing a lanyard that looks exactly like the old ALPA ones but with no writing at all. It makes the point to those who know/care, but doesn't make me look like a 1960's war protester.

Hardly. I'll gladly put my ALPA one back on when we have a new MEC. You know, some people with crazy ideas like representing their constituents.

You are correct. They began celebrating the minute Dave Webb and his MEC ignored a large majority of their dues paying members and split this group almost in two. As far as heading to MEC HQ, my guess is DW and some of his posse are enjoying a very expensive steak right now, with a very expensive bottle of wine, smoking a very expensive cigar with his buddy Prather (all on our dues money of course), and talking about the day when he ascends to the ALPA Presidents throne. Lots of back slapping going on I am sure for his delivering the FDX ALPA support for changing Age 60 (against a 70% majority) and Prather's giving him his support on retroactivity in return. So, we may have to wait for the tar and feathers.

Well since you were asking for opinions about the lanyard, I'll give mine. I don't use the current ALPA one for two reasons. The badge will not lay flat if you use a ring to attach it. Second, if you use the metal clip it is prone to coming off and getting lost. Therefor I like the one with the hook or string.
And since I'm a Nugget and ALPA doesn't represent me yet, I have no opinion any any of the other issues being presented.
