Look in the "upstart" section. If you are a member of that "other" board, there is a thread going on right now in the cargo section.

I think they are overly focused. 1 contract no matter who it is with, is not a good idea. 360 might seem like a great idea today to the Korean's, but 5 or 10 years from now who knows. Plus if the Koreans say pay cut, 360 has to say how much. Look at the Regionals, 8 years ago all of the majors where buying up their feeders (Delta = Comair, ASA, CAL =XJET, AA= Eagle/BizEx) now they are trying to sell them all.

the 200's and 300 will be replaced by the 777's, 1200 gals of fuel per hour less than the classics and have a warranty.

Then add the big lease payment of the 777 which will be at least four times the payment of the classic... Hence the reason there are so many classics hauling trash. Not knocking the 777, just keeping it all in perspective.

A pax 777 leases for around 1.25mil p/m right now, what would a 777F go for I wonder, if one existed?

big lease payments small maintenance cost. Fuel cost in five years? Lease payment in five years is known. How much does it cost if you can't meet the contract because you are not reliable? How many contracts can you maintain with reliability? Can you maintain a utilization rate of over 12 hours per day with old aircraft? Probably, but with a steep maintenance cost. How about RVSM, stage 4 noise compliance, and RNP approaches into less that desirable airports. You get all of that with new aircraft.
