Want More FDX Out and Backs?
Our ALPA SIG has its hands tied on the increase in out and backs, partly due to the responses the company is receiving about the issue.
From the July SIG notes:
"There is a increase in the number of Out and Backs throughout the bidpacks. This is purely controlled by the company as they evaluate their business needs. It is important for you to express your feelings to the Company SIG chairman, Pat DiMento, your desires regarding the increase in Out and Backs. If you feel strongly either way on the O& B increase make sure to E-mail Pat. Participate in your future."
Emphasis mine.
Supposedly, the Company's SIG Chair has stated that he has received far more responses in favor of all the new out and backs, by a margin of 12 to 1.
I would have to think, that is not a true representation of the feelings of our crewforce.
This is not a poll!! Just email a quick note to Dimento with how you feel.
His email address can be found on the FedEx-pilot website, under "Departments", "Central Region". He's the DC10-S/O ACP.

Ya think?? O & B's can be a semi-decent deal for those who live in MEM.
For commuters--who represent over 70% of us, contrary to those who think the sun rises in East Shelby county every morning--the feeling isn't quite the same. O & B's are terrible. Virtually uncommutable.
So no, 30% does not constitute a majority. Except around here, of course...
