Default July Disputed 727 Pairings.

Ok, I realize this is pulping a dead horse, but it just puzzles me how NEARLY all the disputed pairings for July have been picked up in open time already. I am referring directly to the SO side of the house....where a lot of newhires sit. I myself am newhire, but do not feel it takes much digging to find out which pairings are "off-limits", nor much integrity to leave them to reserve crews.

I wonder if the nature of these pairings was not communicated well in our basic indoc from the ALPA reps. How can "undermining the SIG by volunteering for these trips" be professionally communicated to these individuals who fail to see the ramifications of their actions?

Is there any ideas on how these folks could be informed of their detrimental behavior?

Ya they should be informed by the Captain or FO but what am I thinking they are picking them up too... Maybe it would be best to have a few lines in the bidpack that consist of DPs and total crap; and then they award it to those morons as a secondary line.. Problem Solved.. Oh and thanks to those morons, there were no DPs for the bus in Jul?? Also if you are reserve, you need to feedback on those DPs when you fly them!!! Nuff Said

Since they are new hires, then it follows that they were sponsored for an interview etc...Have any of these people been "spanked" by their sponsors? Any one care to chime in? What was their defense, too stupid so sorry?

We have our own forum with less than 400 pilots to discuss our internal problems, and to police our pilot-force. AND we PAY for it ourselves with our sub UPS/FEDEX wages.

Good luck sorting out your problem children,
Cheers,
WG

Hmmm ... sounds like sour grapes from a real airline pilot wannebe? What year did you get rejected by UPS/FedEx? Good luck getting recommendations from your real airline pilot friends (not that I really think you have any).

Depsite your bad manners, I'll still let you cut my grass. Please do a better job raking the leaves next time.

Personally, I tend to agree with WorldGuy.

Did you ever stop to think there might be some value to handling disputes in house? Not to mention being a little bit less pompous in general?

I hear there is another place that has Company specific Crew Rooms.

Mark - I think World has been a real airline about twice as long as FDX.

But, I didn't get why he's hollering about our thread. Maybe he was trying to be funny or something.....

I was wondering the same thing but then I started looking at what trips were assigned to the guys with secondary lines, and there sits the majority of those disputed turds. Forgive my newby ignorance, but aren't many/most of the disputed pairings put into the secondary lines?

Corrected: Now ALL the DP's have been picked up by folks not on secondary lines. None left.

Many DP's were available long after secondary lines had been built....available to open time pick-up.

And for those not interested in reading about "our" in-house "problems"....then don't worry about it. Just don't read the thread.

Simple.

Any positive ideas of education on this subject?

The only way you can be assigned a disputed pairing other than on reserve status is to specifically request the pairing by number on a VTO request, voluntarily under VLT/DFT or some kind of make-up. This includes using the general MU or VLT request. If the trip fits your request you can be assigned it.

The guys getting these on VTO's are requesting them. If a DP is put on a VTO without request (which has occurred) then the pilot MUST notify the Company and the Union to fix it.

There is one gray area, SUB. You can be assigned a DP on SUB. If you are assigned one in SUB then you need to make the call on how turning this down will affect your personal life. A short trip would be a easier choice than a long SUB trip being assigned that is a DP. This should not be much of an issue in MEM as most or ALL of these trips are being picked up and are not available for the Company to assign to reserves let alone fill SUB windows.

Hope this helps.
