Default Why did Jack "change" STV to 30 vs 90 days

I thought this was a take it or leave it deal. Our negotiating committee told us this was the best they could do. But apparently they missed something. How old and secure and out of touch can you be to think guys would just give up 3 months of their lives. I'm just astounded by it and feel sold out. Did FPA get voted back in and I just missed it? The protection against being deployed involuntarily to an FDA in our contract and the union is trying to GIVE it back in some kind of interest based bargaining.

Maybe they changed because their hearing and seeing that everyone is totally pi**ed off with the LOA (STV) and now their just trying to "sweeten" the pot just so they can get 50%+1.

Agree...but nothing has been sweetened on STV...what's written in the LOA hasn't changed....were only getting "Verbal" assurances guys...the world doesn't work that way.

...plus, make other issues to fix/tweak.

Vote - NO! Then back to the table!

The MEC reps said the Alpa lawyers say that JL's FCIP has now become a "legal document". However, I read JL's letter and it says "standard term...one month" and elsewhere it says one month is the "Intention". The cheif pilot guarenteed only one month at the meeting last night. I agree, if it doesn't say it in the LOA then it's a no go. It need to be brought up at the germantown meeting on saturday.

Looks like the negotiating isn't over.
Just "fix" the following and I think the carping will end.
1. Take out the STV reverse seniority provisions (won't need it anyway if the deal is good enough).
2. Provide a reasonable $$$ for schooling.
3. Clarify medical issues.
4. Improve housing $$ for HKG and place monies in local (HKD and Euros).
5. Throw some more $$ at the move or at least provide some deferred shipping to get more than the 500lbs on offer.

"Special Temporary Vacancy. The STV can only be used for 540 days within the first 2 years of opening or if closing the base. The time period is 1-3 bid periods and you get per diem and housing the entire time. If you are inversed, one bid month is the intention."

As previously stated, I "intended" to make my deviation check-in call. Forgot to, got a$$-raped by my ACP with a threat of time off if I did it again. If it is INTENDED, put it in WRITING!!!!!!!

"Pilots home school or pay for private school now in the U.S. Because this is a personal choice, assistance was not included. "

Ummmm....NO, I don't. My kids go to public school in the States. An option NOT available to a non-Cantonese speaking American kid. How did our Union swallow this logic????

"Specifics are unknown due to the required CBA shift to Wellpoint/BCBS."

Sorry dear, I realize little Tommy has allergies and/or diabetes but, we'll just have to trust the Company on this one. And God forbid you find out AFTER you get there that you have a special needs child and you find the medical support options unacceptable. I'm sure the company will just let you come back to the States over something as "minor" as allergies.

"COLA. There is no COLA provision. If the dollar gets worse, it will be more expensive to live. If it gets better, it will be less expensive. "

That just gives me a huge warm and fuzzy!! Please may I have another??!!

"The 100 mile limit can be stretched a bit but not to require flying into domicile."

Great, just like the deviation limit can be "stretched a bit". Just hope your ACP/SCP is in a good mood the day you request this exception because it will TOTALLY up to his/her discretion!!

"The Company will provide transport from HKG to CAN and from the FedEx ramp in CDG to terminals and maybe town at certain times. "

At least this one is airtight....especially if the only "affordable" housing I can find is out in Kowloon. "Sorry Capt Schmuckatelli; we told you Hong Kong....NOT Kowloon. Get on that little red public bus and get your butt to work!"

Have I convinced anybody this thing either really stinks as is OR leaves too many unknowns to accept at face value???

He's another of those guys who swore he was gone the day he turned 60. Odd how they develop that wet booger syndrome hoping to cash in on their Age 65 lotto.
