i've been working for UPS for almost 1.5 years now. If I work there for another 2 years would that assist me in getting hired as a pilot once I got all my certificates?

KC10 skinnyboy – I’ll show my ignorance here but the picture in your avatar is a fake, right? Surely a tanker can’t refuel a tanker? Not sure why you’d need to but I don’t know much about the military side of flying.

Good luck with your application – the wait is well worth it!

You'll still need to meet the minimums no matter what. One guy in my class used to throw bags for UPS. He did it for 6 years or so; while in college and a few years afterward. He felt like his interview was a very positive experience because one of the interviewers used to do the same thing and they "shared some memories" from that time. Not sure if it really helped him or not but he did get hired. Of course, he also met all the minimums, had close to 6,000 TT, all part 91 (never flew part 121 or 135 - also only had civ. flight time).

I'd say go for it and good luck!

It's real, I've seen it. Not pretty, like whales mating!

KC10's are re-fuelable themselves...KC135's are not (for the most part - a few can be).

Now open that window!!!!

AV8OR,
I ran an intercept on "a" tanker during Southern Watch and it turned out to be a KC-10 refueling another KC-10. Not something a fighter guy gets to see every day but totally cool to watch. It looks a whole lot tougher than what we go through on the boom!
Tankers refuel tankers for lots of reasons and adds to our capabilities tremendously.

For the AF guys: does anyone know about "Other" time being included in TT?

I included it for PIC but not for Copilot time. There's no right or wrong just be able to explain how you did it.

Wow, had no idea. Thanks for the replies! Very cool, learning something new everyday!

Good luck to all brownie wannabies! Hopefully the application window will reopen very soon and the transoceanic requirement will be gone! (at least for the sake of regional guys/gals )
