UPS Aircraft

First time "poster"! Long time fan of UPS/Fedex and was wondering if there is any more news regarding any more aircraft purchases for either?
Possibly B-744? B-777 (UPS)?
Thanx.

There are a lot of rumors out there but no "offical" word.

Heard that the Atlas 747-400's are going to UPS. This was confirmed by two pretty good sources at both companies. It doesn't sound like the pilots are coming with the aircraft though; just the airframes. The classic 747's will be gone much quicker than first announced. Should be an interesting fall at UPS...

It's funny this comes up. Just last week I flew a captain who said UPS wants more 400's like now, and since the production line was closing down and all the conversion slots were taken up for the next couple of years, the only way to get them is to buy someone!

The first company that came to mind is Atlas. I just hope the pilots come with the deal. But I know how ruthless UPS can be.

Interesting!

Ask those guys how they feel about UPS acquiring their 757's.

Never took any A/C, just the routes.

we still didn't do right by them. Should have at least given some interviews.

Latest rumor is more "new to us" DC-8s

767 pilot...

How would the IPA force the company to give the challenge air pilots interviews? That was a business decision of which we were notified after the fact...if you think otherwise, you might have overestimated the power of the union.

Force? We can't force them to even abide by what they agreed to. Our groups silence spoke volumes though.

Just talked to my buddy at Atlas who said he hasn't heard that rumor at all. I do hope for more -400s though but directly from Boeing would be the best way to do it. As far as the "line closing" - I believe it when Ii see it; as long as they'll be getting more orders Boeing will keep the line wide open...

J Dawg 08-15-2007 09:18 AM

The 400 line will be officially closed when the UPS birds are complete as far as I know because at that time 747-8 production will ramp up. Both aircraft will not be produced at the same time.
