Heard that there will not be as many W/B capt spots as expected. More F/O filling and alot of those are to come out of this DC-10 excess, part of the reason that the bid is being delayed.

actually heard the opposite.
(take it as a rumor) but heard the company wants a 2-3 year bid to include HKG, CDG, 757, etc., but no 777's. the time frame was to minimize training and to hedge the possible change of age 60 and not having a vacancy bid--keeping the backseaters in the back.
by the way, isn't that age 60 stuff supposed to have been a "done deal" by now? good thing DW went against the majority.

Actually...no. It was announced that the NPRM would be out sometime this fall. Figure another 18+ months beyond that for a final rule. Or...just read it here: http://www.faa.gov/news/updates/age_...e_60_rule_faq/

That's the FAA version, FH's version is Nancy Pelosi swoops in wearing her Wonderwoman suit and saves the day for safety by keeping him in the left seat. Works out perfect, he benefits by the rule for 35 years, then a week or so before he turns into a pumpkin, voila' the rule changes and aviation is saved!
Actually, Nancy's House has already swooped. FH is waiting for Hillary and Co. to swoop from the Senate side, and of course, then they have to reconcile the two bills, etc....

Who is FH? I look at my ALPA calendar, and I don't see a retirement on Oct 16th.
