So is 'active' better than 'on file'?
|
Questions for re-applying
1- I was turned down most recently with UPS, however my file is still active, But I can only view, can't make changes. most of the people went on file right after rejection. Why my file is still active?
2- What are the chances of getting second interview? Some got the second intrview in 6-12 months, some never did. How do they do this? 3- Do they call your rec writers? 4- How do thay evaluate your interview? It seems most of the people who had a perfect sim got the job? Are they giving more weight to the sim part? Thank you in advance for doing this. |

Perhaps they'll ask something like how much a gallon of milk costs in ANC to see if we've researched what living in AK would be like. ($3.95 last May, according to: http://www.city-data.com/forum/other...ost-today.html
can any locals verify this?) Since I'm already stuck here, I'd be glad to take a job with UPS and save someone else from the torture. I'm already used to the high prices, deep snow, and long, cold, dark winters. |

Larry - wish you the best but I don't think posting your name and your phone number is the best thing to do. Thousands of people reads those threads -personally I think it's safer to PM someone but that's just me. Maybe I'm a little paranoid, I don't know? Either way good luck to you!
I certainly think that you have a sound suggestion, but I also am trying every avenue to obtain an interview at UPS. I am rather trusting in general, and wish to think that the folks on this site are interested maintaining a professional demeanor. So far no calls! But you may have a point. 20,000 hours and four Boeing Type ratings later, my simple wish is to have a seat at UPS. With every good wish, Larry |

Good luck to you – the wait is well worth it… |
thanks for the job fair tip. Where is the best place to find a schedule? I like the idea of attending the women's job fair. Good thinking there in your part! Larry

What worked for me was attending a job fair, or actually several of them (AirInc). I also went to the women-in-aviation job fair (I’m a guy but think it’s the best seminar of them all) and one of my sponsors showed up there in his uniform to "reintroduce" me to one of the HR reps (“reintroduce” because he had seen me at a previous job fair) and voilà - 2 weeks later I got the call. Not sure it'll work for everyone but thought I’d tell you what apparently worked for me...Then again, maybe they were just tired of seeing my ugly face at all those job fairs and figured, what the heck, let’s just call him…:D
Good luck to you – the wait is well worth it… If a file went on file back in Jan and then you went through in April (?) and checked yes to international and transport, then got a thanks blah, blah, blah message, did the system update your information with said experience? |

OBAP is another option but their conference ended just a week or so ago. They have a great turn out among the airlines as well. www.obap.org or http://obap.org/Events/default.asp This leaves only AirInc for this year; again it’s a pretty good seminar but not as well organized as WAI in my view. The good thing is, there’s a conference pretty soon in Washington, DC (Sept 22, 2007). www.jet-jobs.com or http://www.jet-jobs.com/guestframe.html Like I stated earlier, I'm not sure if this can help you to get an interview or not. However, the people you meet there WILL be the ones who will do your interview once it happens... Some Answers
When HR decides to call people for an interview, the computer will RANDOMLY pick the requested amount of interviewees that meet the parameters that HR is looking for. This probably explains why some people get called quickly and others take months to get called. An internal recommendation will add a point to your score. It doesn’t matter if you have 1 or 20 recommendations, one point will be added to your score. Date of application within each application window does not affect the order in which you get called. Current window to close in October. Still calling people from the April window, probably through the end of the year. Can apply only once a year and need to reapply each calendar year. Saying “no” to the ANC base won’t disqualify you. If you obviously have deep roots where you live now, such as you own a business, or there is a situation in which you would obviously not want or be able to go to ANC, be honest. Because you are in the pool does not mean you will be called, you may never be called, sorry to drop the bomb, however the pool is small and the poolies are reviewed monthly. Hope this helps. |

Does this mean that they are calling thru the APR window before they 'dump' all the Aug+ apps in the system. Or did I misundestand that statement? Moondog |
