I think it's a little different. Like Scumseeker said, using the list to evaluate other people is a good idea. A willingness to continue to pick up DPs in the face of opposition says alot about the team spirit of those individuals. However, the main difference is that most of the people picking up the DPs are union members in good standing. Uninformed and/or selfish members, but members nonetheless. Instead of taking the immediate step to scab level, they're at an intermediate level of just being stupid, difficult, and obstinant. I also think there's more to stopping the optimizer than simply not flying DPs. I'm sure ALPA knows this, but maybe the focus on DPs is designed to "unify the membership" over a slam dunk issue that we can all agree on so we stop harping on the Age 60 and FDA issues.

Whoever has the list needs to give it to Paulie & Silvio so they can arrange sit down with Tony S. Tony will let each of them know how they are hurting the family. Then, he will make them an offer they can't refuse, such as "Stop picking up these DPs or you will be sleeping with da fishes, you know what I mean?"

Are you kidding me? So Scum is living up to his name by calling it as it is? I can't believe these guys are on here supporting our so-called brothers (and sisters, of course) who are willingly flying DP's. I can't believe someone who can spin a positive argument about chopping the SIG off at the knees can look in the mirror the next day.

Worse yet, I can't believe that our worst offenders "touchy-feely" feelings are more important to some of you than taking responsibility for their actions. And the fact is...they have stabbed the rest of us straight in the back.

Have a nice, sensitive day everyone. And don't to pick up some pet food for the gerbil at the pet store...

SS,

This thread shouldn't have deteriorated, but the last question you ask in the third post comes across as very aggressive, antagonistic and argumentative.

Deuce asked a simple, valid question and in turn you responded with what comes across as an accusatory question. FDX727 responded to that message and you again came back with the "sounds like you are worried" line.

Can you not see how those responses were the genesis of the ugly turn that this thread took? Maybe you didn't intend for those statements to be aggressive, but we can't read your body language and facial expressions on the internet.

That's why you see people post smilies to make the state of mind and intent of the post abundantly clear.

I saw the list and it is just depressing. There are lot of people on that list who I hold in high regard and would have gone back to back to defend in a bar brawl. I won't even be able to ask many of them how they ended up with the DP for fear of further disappointment. This list could function to damage the resolve almost anyone. If I were MGT I would want the list plastered everywhere.

Look DP flyers should be treated like the scum they are (the voluntary ones of course - obviously someone on Reserve is fine). We show how weak we are by treating these guys no differently. Lists - I wouldn't get caught publishing one but would love to have one. Only one DP in LAX this month - that's the only one you have to remember and some rather senior FO picked it up during O/T release last night. Great.

When you asked the MEC about any leverage we had during the LOA voting, they said what leverage? "We told guys not to bid SFS and everyone bid it". Yeah, they're right - we have no leverage because we are weak. This is why the optimizer won't be fixed. What's the threat? We have way too many independent contractors in this union.

How about this? A guy picks up a DP voluntarily - give him a subtle warning. He does it again, kick him out of the union. Someone tell me why that shouldn't happen? Is it illegal?

Default I'm an idiot

FWIW...I'm a first year 727 S/O and I obviously flunked bidding 101. Last month, I put in a makeup bid without consulting the SIG notes (a mistake that won't happen again). I ended up with the DH MSP/AFW/SHV/SDF 2 day trip. After the award, a buddy of mine told me I picked up a DP and I realized my goof. I stayed up during midnight madness last night and got up again at 4:30 to rectify my error. I was able to trade my DP for another trip.

My questions are....did I go on the list? Is this just for guys who fly them or fly them repeatedly or idiots like me who picked them up? What time frame does it cover? If it does cover those who picked them up, is someone going to update the list after I catch my error and fix it at the first opportunity?

I'm just saying that you have to be careful when using such a list to form opinions of others without knowing the entire situation or even how the list was developed/maintained. Sorry about the goof but I've learned my lesson

Tuck,
While I understand the frustration toward a voluntary DP flyer, being scum and being a scab are two different things. Please, let's reserve the SCAB label for those who truely fit the definition.

Crossing a picket line is what it is. Flying a DP, though it undermines our collectivity, does not violate the CBA. Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning a DP flyer, but to call him a "scab"? C'mon. Maybe treat him like the "non" member he is, agreed.

If the almighty MEC could "DO" something about this they would. They can't.

For the uneducated here, what is a disputed pairing? Sorry for my ignorance just trying to catch up.

You are not on the list, only if you actually operate the trip. Good job on fixing your mistake ! If only the other dip$hits would follow suit.
