If a training event touches a block of days, it will wipe out this entire block and you are responsible for picking up your own trips. This will allow you to pick up trips in the View/Add window.
One major caveat, if your training touches the first or last R day, it will only drop those days, it will not remove the entire block.
Hope this helps...

Here's my story for August(LAX based F/O), flew to MEM on Sunday, had ground school on a Monday, sim on a Tuesday, and flight back to LAX on Wed. Had R-days scheduled for Monday-Sat, with the 12 hour buffer, R-days on Mon, Tues, Wed and Thurs were knocked out. Had a 18:24 mini bank to do the view/add window to pick up trips(plus up to 6 hours extra, if I remember correctly, but I didn't pick up anything, nothing in the LAX open time fit in my schedule). I was shorted the 18:24 for my pay in Aug, but will get 18 hours for training on day off in Sept. My understanding is that it will only knock out all r-days if the training is in the middle of a block. Mine started the day before my block started, hence only the days it touched got knocked out. Hope that helps.

I believe the responses you got are incorrect. Please confirm with the contract, but if your training event bumps the beginnning or end of a string of r days those r days plus 12 hour buffer will go into CIA or make up if you don't pick up any trips in view add. If your training occurs in the middle of a string of r days then all the r days go away. Anyone pleas correct if I'm wrong.

f. Following the award during the Conflict Processing Window,
a trip or block of R-days in conflict with the recurrent training
session award shall be treated as a phase-in conflict as
provided in Section 25.F. (e.g., the trip or R-day(s) shall
be dropped and be eligible for make-up under the CIA
assignment code), with the pilot having the ability to enter
bids during the following View/Add Window. Conflicts with
blocks of R-days under this paragraph shall be handled as
follows:
i. If the pilot’s recurrent training conflicts with a block of
R-days but does not split that block (i.e., it does not
leave an R-day(s) both before and after the recurrent
training), then only the R-days in conflict with recurrent
training shall be dropped as a phase-in conflict and
the pilot shall remain responsible for the remaining
R-days.
ii. If the pilot’s recurrent training splits a block of R-days,
then the entire block shall be dropped as a phase-in
conflict and the pilot shall not be responsible for any of
the R-days in that block.

you, if able, will be assigned trng on days off. the "if able" has to do with assigning trg in seniority order. not sure if they will move r-days to accomodate this.

<P>Surely, I'm missing something or something has changed since new contract.</P>
<P> </P>
<P>Say you have training in OCT and you bid a line or reserve line, doesn't matter. I thought you THEN bid for your training sched (that usually seems to take forever to be awarded....approx 2-3 weeks). How would you know that your string of r-days or trips that conflicted with training were dropped and you could pick up those cherry trips prior to vto's since that time frame (view/add) has surely come and gone prior to training slot notification? </P>
