Default DVD's in Shanghai?

Does anyone know of a store in Shanghai that sells DVD's (region 9) like the old "Kay-Dee" club that is now closed? I don't want to go to the market and deal with that crap. Thanks

Just a reminder of my former life when I worked back there. Helps keep all else in perspective.

Most of the Chinese DVDs I've bought have been poor quality or menus that are in Chinese. Plus I've had several that were the camcorder in the 3rd row BS. I've also had many of the DVDs purchased there go bad on the shelf at home after a few months. Upon close inspection it appears that the internal layer is oxidizing. As a minimum I would burn another copy when you got home if you want to preserve the movie.

I now try to buy all my DVDs in Penang. English standard with English menus and most have been of high quality. One caveot, if it's currently playing in US theaters at the time of your purchase all bets are off. If it's been released on DVD or soon to be, you should be able to get a good quality copy.

If you know where Malone's is, walk past it (northbound) and take a right down the first street you come to. There is a DVD store about 50 yards down on the left. It has a sign out front with a Disney character on it. There is a very wide selection and the quality is good. Not that I would ever consider buying any DVDs from anyone but my local Best Buy, but if I ever did, I would certainly buy them there. And I would be sure to ask the little Chinese lady if the quality was good, and she would always tell me yes or no. And she would be right.
