UPS 747-400 EFB's
#1
Someone posted a rumor on here that UPS might not be getting the electronic flight bags on our converted 747-400's. I couldn't find that thread so I am posting this here. I had the chance to talk with the guy in charge of technology for us and he confirmed this....sort of. Boeing wanted a huge amount of money ($300,000?) to certify the EFB in the converted freighters. We decided to pass but we will indeed be installing the EFB's on the plane. We will certify them ourselves instead. UPS....reinventing the wheel once again. What the hell, it worked out pretty well with the MD-11 sims

If you haven't used one you'll be pretty stoked when you get your hands on it. We have them on the B777's and the OPT alone is worth it's weight.
We're down to just the charts, route guide, supp 2's, and the DG red book in the paper library, but they are also on the EFB. Apparently we are going to EFB charts pretty quick as well.
