Commutability for UPS ANC Captains

Commutability for UPS ANC Captains
I've been following the ANC MD-11 capt bids. For the Nov bid periods the bottom 8 guys all got 15 days consecutive blocks of reserve, which means only one commute. Granted those blocks are over Thanksgiving, but not all that bad of a deal for the money they are making there. Food for thought for 2004 and early 2005 hires.

Are you really suggesting that someone on property 3 years will get a left seat this go around? Don't see it happening. Remember, this is a realignment bid. There are 18 captain slots for the 747-400 and -18 on the classic and the DC-8. So, upgrade in three years? maybe someday, not now.

I think it is reasonable to say that a 2004 hire will be in the left seat when this round of dispacements is up. We have more bids coming in January and May. By the May bid there will be a 2004 guy in ANC in the left seat IMO. The junior captain at ANC is seniority # 2051 and the senior 2004 hire is 2313. So the question is are there 262 guys willing to pass up being an ANC captain the next few bids? Also, how many of the displaced 747 classic captains are willing to move to ANC? Only 1 that I have flown with.

After seeing what they did to my captain last week, I don't think I want to be captain at this company right now. Not worth the hassle IMO.
They just keep pushing and pushing and pushing until you give in. Luckily my skipper never let them intimidate him. I have only been here for 2 years and never saw it coming. My captain has been here for 20 and was able to predict exactly what was going to happen. A lot to say for his experience and dealing with this management.

Gotta look this up, but before I do does anyone know off the top of their heads? Do initial upgrades take precedence over transitions?
If that's the case I see it being very difficult to bid out of ANC once you take the CA upgrade there.

But if you are displaced off of the Classic or the DC-8 in a few years...

The 747-classic captains are senior, and will not have to go to ANC. If the SDF junior captains that are bumped want to stay a captain, they will have to go to ANC...
