Boeing just announced some leasing company (Guggenheim, I think) bought 3 777Fs. Maybe that's where they're going.

Given WOA's experience last time they tried adding an ETOPS plane (and resulting purchase of an airline who already had ETOPS cause we couldn't get it together)... I seriously doubt it

For an airline to give up their 777's is almost inconceivable. They carry a lot of people / stuff a LONG LONG way on much less gas than the comparable a/c. UAL has the oldest ones flying and I couldn't see them letting any go. It sounds to me like an unfounded rumor (however, as in all things aviation and airlines in particular what sounds like logic doesn't always get executed upon).

Yeah...I agree. The rumor mill is busy as usual turning out the usual bullsh!t. Even if I saw a memorandum from management, I wouldn't be a true believer until I saw the aircraft.

Maybe ATA or North American, not World. We will have enough problems with the 747 and the additional DC-10 coming soon.
