Default Recurrent update from "0"

"0" talked to our recurrent class today. Most of his time was spent showing us the orginizational tree. A waste of time, but it was eye openning to see how many Capts we have in various forms of management.

The few useful tidbits he shared were as follows:

-His best guess for age 60 legislation to pass is Jan '09. Anyone 63 or older will not retrain but will get passover. I think he said they had to bid back to the front seat (meaning a bid had to be open?).

-MD11/MD10 will be in the HKG FDA within 2 years. Flt Mgt wanted them on this bid but the bean counters didn't agree.

-777s arrive in Jun '09 and 1st revenue flight in Aug '09.

-757s are on schedule. No delays.

-No hiring for 12-18 mos unless the FDAs go unfilled. The hiring is based on a 3 year forcast and China is flatter than forcasted.

-DC10s gone in 2010. A decision must be made to either draw them down to one remaining hull with 10-15 crews till the end, or draw them down to 5 hulls and then shut the whole fleet down.

His feelings seemed to have been hurt by the union's response to his DSA and Fatigue emails, however he never acknowledged that his communications skills were severly lacking on those emails.

.

I guess we will be hiring first part of '08 then! HaHa! Yea right.

I have a feeling the optimizer is squeezing alot more blood from the turnip and is the major factor in not needing any fresh meat. Along with retirement, DC's to MD's, and every disputed pairing being pick up! Go ahead and pat yourself on the back.

Here's an idea. Have the 777 bid in Feb 09', the over 60 crowd bids all the openings in both seats and then nobody can fly with anybody. BRILLIANT!
BTW...Jack's e-mail about not playing the standard shuck and jive with the upcoming bid doesn't seem to have gone over well with the expat community at SFS. Heard a few of the boys giggling the other night about lots of them bidding it on all the practice bids to skew the nums and percentages and scare away folks. Other than a small effort to "stick it to the man", not sure what they hope to accomplish.....other than "feeling better".

Good stuf...thanks for sharing.

...now, I'll add 6 months minimum to all the timelines listed.

How does he think we (crewforce) felt? We had to read his emails! The first one is threatening us if we call fatigued and then the service failure emails made it look like he fell asleep while typing and his forehead hit the "send" prompt prematurely.

I thinks its very comforting to know that our management spent soooo much time interviewing for a new chief pilot and then after only 2 emails to the crew force he looks like a fool.... Just My Humble Opinion.........

Speaking of Management Captains, will someone please tell me where Jack Lewis is in our pilot "chain of command", and why are we still getting e-mails from him?

Why are most over 60 pilots still here? Some would say they have no life outside FedEx and flying jets. He just made sure he didn't have to pour coffee like FH while his buddy DeeDub gets his retro on for him!

He took JH's position in contract management.
