Change your VIPS password if you think your ex can lurk in VIPS.
Blocking = hiding something or not proud of something.

With all due respect, I could ask my wife to get a printout of your calender without my help, and it might take her all of a day to get it.

I have a couple of friends who are solid union guys that block their calender because of psycho ex-wives/girlfriends that can get access through other friends. I am sure that only makes up a small percentage of blockers, but it is always good to ask.

I can't make the logic jump to:

Calender Blocker = Bad guy

You can tell if someone is doing DPs without getting their calender. So they aren't hiding that.

What else do you want to see on someone's schedule?

Some people like their privacy.

On the flip side--

I think the psycho ex is a cover story. These guys just want privacy and come up with as good a story as they can to satisfy the "People for Open Calenders Club". Are their meetings I can go to for this organization?

It's not necessarily the EX getting the calendar, it's the new "freind" who is a crew member that is letting the wife know how much and when he's working. Yeah, I know, surely this isn't really happening. I've seen it done.

I've always left my calender open for all to see, and have mentioned to guys over the years, that they should do the same. However, if they want to block theirs, I don't question why, and I respect their right to privacy. I do mention to them, that it sure makes things a lot easier for anyone trying to contact them, if they didn't block. The same goes for phone numbers in VIPS. I always wanted to be available just in case someone wanted to PDO bump me on a 12 day trip. But that's a different issue.

Assuming you were in the military, what would have happened if ......

Unbelievable!

NEWS FLASH.......FEDEX IS NOT THE MILITARY (sometimes hard to tell though), AND MANY HERE NEVER HAVE BEEN IN THE MILITARY!

Those who have been, I do thank you for your service. But now you are working in a civilian position, are have more freedom to speak your mind.

Once upon a time when I was working at St. Elsewhere, I was flying a trip with a Captain who seemed to be pretty cool and normal until we pulled into the hub. It was a through flight with ~ 1hr turn, so most Captain's would just go grab the outbound paperwork and hang around at the plane or get a snack at most. This guy got real nervous all of sudden when we pulled in and handed me a sheet of paper with his cell number on it while asking for mine as well. He then told me not tell anyone where he was and to call him if there were any problems before disappearing out of the side of the jetway onto the ramp vs. going into the terminal. Not long after he left, a csr came down looking for him. I played dumb, did my walkaround and came back to find a csr supervisor asking the same thing. After shaking her off, I went to get the paperwork myself b/c the captain didn't want to and grab a bite to eat at Quiznos. In the Quiznos line I was approached by a F/A who at first tried to act like she didn't know who I was flying with, but then explained that the Captain was her ex and that she really needed to talk to him. I of course said that I didn't know where he was and that I would relay the message but that I'm really not interested in getting involved in all of this. The Captain later made an all clear call to my cell before slipping into his seat @2 min before departure. Of course, this guy was a calendar blocker and I would be too if my ex had people posted at the gate and in ops looking for me and tracking down my FO's for info.

I asked a guy I flew with once why he blocked his calendar, and he said when he finally got senior enough to get decent trips, everyone kept calling him and bugging him with sob stories trying to trade their poo trips with him for his good ones. He was a great guy, so I believed him.
