13 years of hard work. Instructing, flying corporate, commuter FO on the Beech then RJ, ANG training, F-16 pilot, RJ Capt, UPS. Simple. Lived in many cities that I don't care to ever again. Was it worth it? Yes, but there are no guarantees in this business. Finally, networking, and luck or chance played a big role. Just getting the call to interview is like winning the lottery and then you have to not blow it.

I worked for UPS in college for four years as a part-time supervisor on the ground side of the operation. At the time it was just a way to pay for tuition, but after a while I really enjoyed working for them. I left UPS to build flight time and kept in touch with all my old bosses and when I had enough flight experience I used them as references. UPS loves to hire from within.

No real airline would hire me 20 years ago, for that matter they wouldn't hire me now! Funny the way stuff turns out.
