World guys.....question
#1
First off, happy turkey day everyone.
Second, a question for those of you at World. I've done some searching and reading up on posts here about the company/lifestyle. I also have a copy of the contract I've been studying. I still have an unanswered question (actually a few, but we'll keep it simple here):
What is your "average" number of days off. I know the contract guarantees 12, but what can you typically expect? (please include your relative seniority). If you could describe your typical month, that would also be appreciated. Or, how many days did you spend on the road last year?
Thanks, Moose

I "expect" 12, that way I'm never upset when that is all I get but I "average" about 15 days off. I am in the bottom 1/4 of the seniority list and usually get an open time line so a typical month means you can and will go all over the world. The bad part is you have to do a lot of commercialing to get where they want you. So, a "typical" month for me means I leave home knowing where I am going for about the next 4-5 days and getting more flying added on while I'm out. It's usually a mix of freight, AMC and the dreaded commercialing. I usually get home a day or two before my line ends and usually don't go out on the first day so I am home for at least 12 but many times 14 or 15 days in a row. Hope this helps answer your questions.
Cheers

I RARELY get bus. or first, only when the company has to get you somewhere and that is all that's available. I've only gotten it on domestic flights. However, if your commercial is over 18 hours they are required to give you a business class or better seat but that rarely happens. We are supposed to get an aisle or window seat but sometimes that doesn't happen, that is when the suck-meter pegs!

Yeah, what they said.
I've only been on line a few months, but the schedule here is pretty awesome about 85% of the time, the other 15% is not too shabby, considering that you are piloting a huge airplane all around the world.
I'm averaging 16-17 days a month at home. And I also had Thanksgiving off, and am so far, off for Christmas, and I am junior, like really junior.
I would highly recommend World, if you can handle the long trips followed by large amount of days off. The long trips aren't even really long, you spend alot of time in 4 star hotels trying to figure out whether to take a day trip somewhere, or hang out at the local pub.
Great people as well.
PM me if you have any ????
