Default LAX to SAN

Hey West Coast guys....got a trip in December that operates to LAX then d/h's to SAN on DAL. I'd like to use some of that bank money elsewhere. Is there good, reasonable train service?

Train's not great - you can get to it from the SAN ramp pretty easily (across the street) but it drops you off at 'LAX' terminal which is about 30 minutes by car to the airport or you can take a few trains. There is regular express surface service from the train station to the LAX airport. You can also hire a towncar for about $265 one way or rent a car for about $40 one way (which you can't get reimbursed though).

Is this a mid-trip deviation?

If you are trying to save $$ Deviation dollars, you might be able to J/S on a FedEx truck from LAX to SAN. I've done it from LGB.

Yeah, mid-trip deviation. Operating into LAX with a scheduled arrival at 0855. Operating out of SAN approx 24 hrs later. Our scheduled d/h is a Delta LAX-SAN, around 11 am. I wondered about a Towncar. How would traffic be at that time?
The train doesn't sound too bad. We'll have G/T to take us over to the terminal, maybe he could drop us at the station. Haven't been to SAN in awhile, don't know where hotel is in relation to Amtrak down there.

2c; it's a bad idea to deviate mid pairing.
