I hope these guys have the brains to read the LOA when they hear "Welcome to FedEx! You and your family must be very excited at the rich experience you'll have living with 100 miles of CDG or HKG and home schooling your children."
Then I hope they have the guts to say "Thanks but no thanks."

Why would you want someone to turn down a job? Everyone blames the people who bid the FDA and voted no, and people for getting hired into the FDA. This LOA was strongly advocated by our MEC and ratified by our membership. I just feel bad that these maybe the terms in order to get hired at FedEx. But to hope to gain leverage through new hires saying "Thanks but no thanks" is pathetic.

I just feel kinda sorry for some of the poolies and soon to be new hires. I was lucky to be hired before the big postal contract. All you heard was growth, hiring 500-750 people a year, etc. If I was offered a job at FedEx now, it would be an extremely difficult decision. This is potentially the "dream job" for a lot of people, and to have to decide under adverse conditions is going to be difficult for a lot of people.
I know I have been hard on the leadership of our union since the LOA passed. I know they have a very difficult job. It is obvious we weren't prepared for negotiating the LOA. I just wish the MEC would come out and say "We are sorry, we were not adequately prepared in negotiating this LOA. A lot of issues we did not account for have surfaced. We have learned a great deal from this experience, and will be better prepared in the future....." But for them to still claim that this is a good deal (especially after the bid) is EXTREMELY INSULTING TO THE MEMBERSHIP.

Young Jack,
From the thread-starter-
Was your friend called for an interview for a mainline pilot position?
If so, I'm guessing they're increasing the pool number for the possible new-hires who'll decline on taking an FDA...
