Internal Fedex Union.
Whats the benefit of alpa over an internal union?
|
In case you're not familiar with the FedEx pilot history, check this out for a brief summation. It's an ALPA publication, but don't read anything into that other than the first hit on the Google search: "history of fedex pilot union"
http://www.alpa.org/DesktopModules/A...2206&Tabid=256 Beyond that, it's not my place to comment as I don't work there. |

What's the advantage of having 40,000 people on your side vs 4000? Economies of scale is the first advantage. More experience to keep you from making repeated mistakes is another.

Sign me up. If I could quit ALPA, I would, but thanks to our latest contract (brilliant!), I can't...It can't be any worse than our current leadership. SG

fbh What we need is Aikin and Ca$$el back to save us. |
Where were the costing models and the 40,000 people when it came time to evaluate the LOA and not make a mistake? (Insert cricket chirping noises here) That's right, no where to be found.
What a debacle that has turned into. |
Before my time was the FPA, however when you sign over to ALPA I was wondering do you also sign away some control of your own house. The effectiveness of any union seems to be the strength of the membership and the willingness to strike. Why do we need ALPA for that? After looking at the APA, SWAPA, IPA, the thought of revisiting an internal unnion seems more plausible...

ALPA is a necessary evil. They have good resources and support, if it is properly used.
