They must be retired. The name doesn't show up in VIPS.

Man that would suck...to get hit with a half million in taxes and penalties, after you retire...OUCH!

IRS will sell pilot's belongings

The Commercial Appeal
Thursday, January 10, 2008

More than three years ago, FedEx pilot Vernice Kuglin agreed to pay the Internal Revenue Service $532,000 in back taxes and penalties on six years of income.

Today the IRS will sell off some of Kuglin's possessions to try to raise some -- but not much -- of that money.

The auction will start at 10 a.m. at the Clarion Hotel Airport, 1471 East Brooks.

Among the items up for bid: a 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser, silver certificates, silver coins, copper Liberty dollars, silver medallions, bills and coins from throughout the world and 90 shares of stock in Southwest Airlines Co.

Minimum bid for the SUV is $3,360; for everything, it is $5,738.25, according to a notice of the sale on the IRS Web site.

Doesn't pay to F w/ Uncle.

I flew with her when I was a new-hire DC-10 s/o. I was always certain she was going to jail and I would move up a seniority number? She used to be a Braniff flight attendant.

I thought she won her case. Must have lost the appeal.

Default The right thing to do

Since this event was unforseeable, and isn't fair just because some of her financial decisions and lifestyle proved shortsighted.....we should let her come back to the left seat to mitigate some of her financial loss.

I flew with her....otherwise a very nice person.

I've got a better idea. Lets give a targeted pay raise to her retirement, since she was negatively impacted by age 65...after all, she was counting on having more money than she's going to have...

Sorry, I just couldn't resist. I guess the logic works both ways...

she didn't have to go to jail,
but, still had to pay her taxes, and penalties.....following is a clipping of the final outcome.

"The Tax Court decision said Kuglin and the IRS agreed on the assessments.

They included more than $296,000 in unpaid taxes, more than $221,000 in
penalties for fraudulently failing to file income tax returns and more than
$14,000 for failure to pay estimated income tax, the court documents showed."
