All slots on the last (cancelled) bid were filled except of course the right seat in the FDAs. The new bid openings are very close to what was filled on the cancelled bid. Even the excessed guys' slots in SFS not going to an FDA were cancelled. And they have to be excessed AGAIN! Those guys had filled many of the slots that are now open again. Someone please enlighten me on the rationale behind that. More slots for over 60 guys? Help me out.

It was a 400 series A310, I think is what he tried to say!

He said a 400 series tail number (as in N422FE, although he did not specify the actual tail no.) 310 (as in Airbus 310)

Makes sense... I just saw what I thought he mean't was the tail number and put that in.. You would think since I have have been an assistant bus driver, I would have noticed but... Well... I didn't... Sh1t happens... Wish he would have just given the 'real' tail number and then we would know the truth.. Damn this INTERNET!

After I re-read what he said I understood what mean't but at first read it was not apparent... But I did give Uncle Sam way to much of my time so as Forrest Gump would say "I ain't a smart man."

Maybe the few new FDA Capt positions force guys to bid the FDA's one more time rather than just receive passover if it was anywhere on their last bid and their number one award was cancelled

Ok, didn't mean to confuse everyone. It was an Airbus 310-100, tail number 422. I was only mentioning that it was a 400 series tail number since they are the older 310's, I mean A310's that we have. Therefore, it could just be going in for mx rather than storage.

Didn't know we had any 400's with a tail number of 310.

Aircraft 422 is indeed on the maintenance production schedule to go to CWF for short term storage/maint on Jan 5th.

A theory I heard about the vacancies...the over 60 in back of the 72 would have to bid a glass A/C versus moving into left seat of the 72. Might scare some of these guys out not being able to return to the 72 and having to go through training on a different aircraft if they wanted a window seat.

The company probably wants to keep the overmanning in the 727 down as we lose approximately 10 airframes and some flying in 2008. With the MD11 and Airbus fleet growing, their overmanning is a little more manageable.

This is indeed the big chance for over 60 727 SOs to go back up front. They are unlikely to have an excess bid. I bet they see the DC10 excess coming on the heals of the vacancy and some will take FO.
