When I recently asked how come I didn't get any of my VTO requests honored, I was told they're call "VTO requests"!

I bid secondaries quite often. And, have to say the system is much better under the new rules in the contract. However, with the new CIC part of the system..It does somewhat negate the improvement for VTO guys to view actual open trips.

It doesn't seem that it would be that difficult to separate, and delay, the VTO request deadline for 24hrs. So, you're not wasting everyone's time by requesting trips that have already been picked up by CIC.

Of course, the company will most likely not do anything about it, until we've negotiated for it. It would only cost them $$ to change the software. And, who's MBO would that come out of?

Esp. since the view add window closes on a Fri. How hard would it be to say secondary requests aren't due til Mon at 0700LBT? No work is going into the secondaries until Monday anyway.

Thanks for all the replies. My situation was I had a trip at the end of January, from which I am deviating home Saturday. My February month started with a deadhead Monday morning. I selected "Don't waive 1-in-10 for carryover conflict." Oops. It turns out the trip I am deviating on technically goes through Sunday afternoon. So my 1st trip in February was dropped. I had bid to pick that dropped trip back up using my CIA balance, but that trip is still in open time, so I was wondering if the CIA trips had been assigned as of yet. Looks like they have, and my original 1-in-10 issue is still preventing me from picking up that trip. Oh well.

You obviously aren't based in the Great White North.

I've heard it's working out pretty well in MEM, but there are major problems in ANC with the secondary line scheduler. I wasn't joking about asking for the Opposite of what you really want. The guy violates the contract every month by bypassing any semblance of a seniority list, but it continues to be ignored.

Evidently this problem is too far down the priority list to be "important". Either that, or he's got pictures somewhere...

PS: Yeah, we miss you jagplt. Plz come back. We're hungry!

So...It used to be better before the new rules?

What does your block rep have to say about it? The SIG?

Any thoughts?
I recommend bidding CIC and stop whining.

Red face Negotiate It

I write down stuff like this to send it to my block rep. I talked to FE (our new negotiaing chairman) and he is always looking for ideas to put in the next contract....especially in Ch. 25. Dividing the view/add into 2 parts (pre/post CIC) seems like a good idea.

As long as your going there; the problem is giving CIC to carryover over BLG. Eliminate that and there will be more trips for secondary lines.

Then how did I, at 90% seniority, get the week on/week off dbl DH VTO line that i got for Jan?! I certainly asked for that! (after I asked for about 10-12 specific long trips )

Just reread cma's post, meaning if you have a VTO in ANC, THEN bid the opposite!
