I just received a letter from BNY Mellon Services notifying me that their archive vendor could not account for a box of backup tapes and that my account number, SS#, bank account number, etc were part of the backup tapes that are missing.

They are offering a 12 months credit monitoring, etc which I will use. I’m also going to change my bank account number, etc.

Mellon Investments - I knew an institution with such a fruity name was not to be trusted…

My question is – do I even have to use Mellon Investments to purchase my discounted UPS shares? I’d rather let my regular bank (BoA) to handle that. I’m not saying they’re better, far from it (they lost some tapes too not too long ago) but I was thinking that every extra account increases my risks when it comes to ID theft.

If I do have to use Lemon Investments, I meant Grapefruit, darn it Mellon Services to buy my shares, can I transfer them instantaneously to my regular bank?

Basically is there a way to set up the discounted purchases without involving Mellon investments?

You have to use them. Once the waiting period has expired, you can have the shares sent to you and you can deposit them for sale wherever you wish.
