My take on it guys (and it's what I did, as well), was count ALL of your UPT time as STUDENT/DUAL RECEIVED or SOLO time. They'll NEVER be able to question those.
Besides...even if you went to Euro-NATO with more flying hours (Air Force guys), how much solo time did you actually get? Maybe 50 hours? Will 50 hours of questionable PIC matter that much in the big picture for getting hired or not? I think you could convincingly argue both sides of the coin...but why risk it, when there is even the slightest chance of interviewers questioning it? JMHO...Good Luck all! :) Edit: I do agree with RedeyeAV8r...if you do plan on counting those hours as PIC, definitely be completely up front...when they are reviewing your records, tell them that you counted your SOLO time as PIC. Good Luck! |

Is the quota system at FEDEX such that it is set up to interview and hire so many pilots from each category, and subsequently are "getting" their fill from the furloughed legacy pilot ranks? Any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated since I happen to be one of those legacy pilot's who is currently employed. Duffrick That is the current rumor mill concerning Pilots who are actively employed by Legacy carries. I was told by a MGT pilot that there are enough furloughed and otherwise unemployed folks, that they don't need to hire employed Legacy pilots. It is total BS and unsat in my opinion. If your qualified, your qualified..............They (FEDEX HR) apparently got burned a few years back when some of our new hire pilots were on a leave of absence from their other Legacy carriers. AAL, Delta and USair to name a few..................When we had our Labor strife in 1998 some of those guys quit Fedex and went back to work at their old carriers.....( I am sure many regret that decision but at the time it seemed prudent)................ I think this is where the problem started but that is just my opinion and not verified. MGT just put out a memo (FCIF) and said they plan to hire right into the right seat of our widebodies...(a Fedex First)................If it were me doing the hiring and I planned to put newbies directly into the FO seat of the MD11,,,,,,,,,,,I would prefer pilots who were current on a wide body, but that is just me. I wouldn't let that stop you from spending the bucks to submit an online application and get your Fedex sponsors lined up. Good Luck and hopefully things will change. |

I counted all my Solo Time in T-28's, T-2s and TA-4s while in Pilot training. I was up frontin the interview (13 years ago) and got hired. Could this time (yes, ENJJPT) be used in calculating Total Time Jet if I held a Comm ME Instr. beforehand? |
