So far ABX has only been hiring for the disputed Osaka Domicle. Point of interest: This week we should find out if management is able to aquire the work visas for the Japanese operation. How long has the Osaka domicile been open? was it December 1st? How long can you be in Japan on a tourist visa?

There was no written when I interviewed in Nov. I was offered Osaka and after some careful deliberation, went with another carrier's offer...I hope/think I made the right choice...I'll know in a year or two, right?

Theman,
Take rolln's advice. A huge dark cloud is now shadowing Wilmington/DHL. This is the most uncertainty I have seen in my 12 years here. The odds are not in your favor. There are, most certainly, better jobs out there. Good luck!

You'll know in the next several months...with huge luck, maybe this will be a good place.

I have been told the new hires now have "certificates of eligibility" which will allow them to get work visas once they get to Japan.
If DHL pulls the plug on ABX you can expect enough of the senior folks to try and exercise their seniority rights to displace any new hires. Don't know if ABX will actually abide by the contract at that point (i.e. allow them to displace or bump crewmembers with less seniority). Until we have a better idea what DHL has planned I would not put my eggs in the ABX basket.
