Im sure you guys read Jacks email. I was curious. If you are in the back seat, you bid and can hold the right seat of a wide body. Will you be pay protected if they hire into the right seat?

Not sure how to put up the quote properly to respond as I am new to this Site.

To Answer your question...................................

If you Bid and are awarded a seat on this bid or any bid for that matter, you will be pay protected..........i.e. authorized passover pay on the awarded position, provided that.

Hope this helps. Sorry for the long dribble

1. You bid and were awarded that position on the Bid.
2. A junior pilot goes through and completes training......
3. You did not "Waive passover" pay when a fellow crewmember wanted to trade training spots...........

#3 is the problem. Because we cannot bid for training dates and virtually have no control over when we go to training, crewmembers must swap training dates............usually a senior guy swaps with a junior guy because he doesn't want to go to training over the summer........................or a Junior guy wants to swap with a senior guy because he?she wants to get off 727FE pay and start making enough to feed his family.

So now the junior and Senior pilot must get Passover waivers from everyone in between to make the swap.................... These waivers say I waive my passover pay when a Junior guy checks out. So if you agree you are not pay protected.........................but if you don't agree you screw your fellow pilots by not letting them swap training dates...............

So you will have a tough decision to make if you are trying to play the system by keeping your Pre bid seniority...........to your post bid pay rate.

Personally These large bids with 3 plus years of traing dates are idiotic in my opinion. Instead of 1 large bid, they could have several small bids covering only 3 to 4 months of training cycles and then have another bid as the training cycle nears completion.

If you BID SFS and get it.........................your correct, it probably won't be an issue....................If you bid the MD-11 or MEM A-300 you will have some soul searching to do.

Hey, speaking of Jack's email...did you guys try and update your standing bid?

Try and update your standing bid and see what airplane choices there are...(hint: look at the "First Digit" of "8")...

I know that rumor has been floating around for months/years...but this is the first time I've seen it on a standing bid update...then again maybe my selective reading just subconsciously blocked it out before...

Maybe more to distract us from negotiations??

If you're talking about the A380, that choice has been there since I got hired in July. Another question floating around is whether the Euro dom will be Airbus or Maddog. Any ideas from anyone in the know? I had heard Airbus before, but some other guys are saying MD-11.

Its been that way for a while. BTW, don't di** around when bidding, guy's have hosed themselves thinking they'd get passover pay for a seat they thought they'd never train for, or would bid out before the training started only to find themselves commuting to ANC when they didn't want to.
If your willing to sit rsv in Subic than bid CAPT Subic, otherwise don't do it! you might get it!;)

MD11driver 01-20-2006 03:32 PM

Not the 380...I'm talking about the MEM B737...

Well, if it's been there for awhile, I guess I just must not have been reading closely enough the past few bids...sorry

Ranger 01-20-2006 04:59 PM

I haven't gone over and looked since I'm 1) lazy and 2) right where I want to be. Someone told me that there's a spot for 737's on the standing bid form.

And while we're throwing stuff around, why the hell would they stop doing the co-domicile thing? Having LAX, ONT, and BUR as co-domiciles has got to save them a bunch so I just can't figue that one out. But Jack is Jack.

FDXFLYR 01-20-2006 06:13 PM

The B737 has been in the standing bid for at least a year. The 380 has been in the standing bid since I was a new hire 5 years ago. I think of them now as just generic place holders since they don't mean anything without the jets on the ramp.
